The coming bloodbath in GOP state parties. |
|
If Rand Paul, Sharon Angle, Ken Buck and Marco Rubio all lose their Senate races. Tea Party activist will come to the realization that without party-like infrastructure and professional organizers, they are going to become quickly irrelevant as things turns toward 2012.
They can't simply continue to be some lose affiliation that endorses Republicans and to continue to exist in a thousand different ego-driven and ego-controlled entitities across the country will surely be there downfall.
They are going to have two courses, radicalize the Libertarian Party or radicalize the GOP.
I predict they are going to make a play for state party control by showing up en masse at Party conventions like they did at town halls in order gain control of purse strings and mailing lists, but also start influencing the GOP Platform.
For the last decade or so, in many states the electing majority in many state party directorates has been the religious right. But they have been smart enough to put a professional face on the state party organizations because they understand that the changes they want will be gained through the ballot bot box and not the pitchfork.
The problem is that Libertarians and fundies have very very different views of the role of government when it comes to social issues. The Tea Party movement is fundamentally radicalized and opposed to incrementalism. It will wind up being a blood bath and I suspect that we make the turn into the prep for the primary season 2012 it is going to be so incredibly confused ant litigious on the right from state to state that the GOP might not survive as a single party.

I know a PA state committee person (R) who is pretty "conservative" and he was grumbling months ago about how the tea party people are chewing him up worse than the dems were ...
Honestly, it will fade, either way ...
The whole tea party thing is a snit from the far right for losing the sacred White House, and to a young african american, at that ... The further away from BOs election, the more they will crawl back into their rat holes ...
These are not people who REALLY care about the process - they are Ron Paul types, get real virilent for a while, but go back to self indulgence ... There is going to be a short half life ...
Also, end of the day, what every differences on whatever level there may be within the right, there is one unifiying focus point - Ds are the love child of stalin and the devil ... Their laser like focus on hating all that is democratic/liberal rallies them when the chips are down ...

3. The further we get from Novermber 2008, the closer we get to November 2012 |
|
Remember that the self-appointed leaders have a vested interest in keeping the flames burning. Now whether they can hold the interest of their members is the issue, But that is why I think they either try and take control of the party or they vanish. Ttime will tell, but I suspect these whackjobs are just itching for a place to fight the fight for relevance.

|
I just KNOW (I've been around awhile)that the American people are, on the whole, NOT nuts enough to vote for them en masse.
