Hayworth suggests McCain would be worse than Obama
PHOENIX — John McCain's Republican primary challenger suggests the country would be worse off had McCain won the 2008 presidential election.

Former congressman J.D. Hayworth has been arguing that McCain isn't conservative enough.

Responding to a question at a Phoenix tea party meeting Monday, Hayworth says he doesn't like President Barack Obama, but a moderate Republican would be even worse than the Democrat.

Referring to the Arizona senator, Hayworth says: "I think the last thing we needed was a progressive trying to wear a Republican cloth coat as president of the United States."

But is he also saying that McCain is a progressive? If that's his objection, then he's right, but for the wrong reason.

Just re-read it, yep, that's exactly what he's saying. lol The image of McCain the ultra-progressive will entertain me for the rest of the day.

2. McCain a "progressive"???

JD is delusional. I guess he had to come up with some nasty name to call McCain and "progressive" was the worst thing he could think of.

4. Keep your fingers crossed everyone. If Hayword beats McCain on the 24th - the Dem Candidate will be
measuring the drapes in McCain's Senate office. Glassman is beating Hayword in the polls, but not McCain.
