It's disgusting the way Republicans are 'milking' 9/11 for all it's worth |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-14-10 10:45 AM by Rosa Luxemburg
It is disgusting that the Republicans persist in using 9/11 for political reasons. Now it is the Muslim community center. People are not stupid, surely they see that the Muslim religion does not and did not support the 9/11 attacks. Terrorists don't belong to Islam. It should be pointed out to these RW loonies that Muslim leaders denounced the terrorists. Is that all the party has got - 9/11? I don't see any policies or suggestions coming out of the Republican Party?

May the voters be advised.

10. That's why this site is so fun -- in part because we |

pretty much bulldoze the squawkers right out of the gate.
I'll second your wish that voters see thru the Pukes' propaganda and fear-mongering.

6. Yes, it is all they have |
|
And, nine years of their fear-mongering has given us a citizenry that has either forgotten, or does not care/believe that the Muslim leaders denounced the terrorists. Same shit, different year.

I hate it. And I don't use the word "hate" lightly. I spent a good part of 9/11 trying to reach my husband, while also trying to remember if his meeting in the WTC was in the morning or afternoon.
Finally connected around 3:00 and he was OK. But it's not a day I'd like to repeat and having some yahoo from Alaska trying to take advantage of the emotions of that day for his/her own selfish political advandage is enraging.

I think even some of the press are thinking why don't Palin and Grinch give it a rest. The fact is that there 2 Mosques in the vicinity and the 'Mosque' is in fact a cultural center.

You said that "People are not stupid" yet every poll I have seen shows strong opposition to the building of the mosque in that location, whether it be among New Yorkers or nationwide. I have maintained for some time that generally speaking people ARE stupid. http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local-beat/New-Yorkers-Oppose-Ground-Zero-Mosque-Poll-97602569.html

18. Fear and Ignorance have worked for Repubs for so long -- why stop now? |
|
Half the country is motivated by fear and ignorance...they tend to usually be in their later years which is why Fox avg age is 69 (ouch!). What also doesnt help though is democrats increasingly becoming more corrupt and bought out by corporations which is making it difficult for democrats to want to fight and make republicans look bad and bring the country left. There are so many ways to devalue the right but the left never does it because well, lets be honest, they too are eager to take corporate cash and ignore their constituents.
What helps repubs is that regardless of their sell-out their constituents dont care so much since they are driven by single-issue ideas mixed with fear. Democratic constituents are usually more educated and arent driven by fear which makes it much more difficult to fool them..hence the democrats like to use republicans as scapegoats for reasons they cant pass things such as the public option even though it is really because they are being bought out too.
The system needs changing...When it does democrats would be in power for a very long time and hold majorities in both houses as high as 80%

it happened on their watch and largely because of their lame way of getting things done.
People love to howl about the deficit and spending. Look at how the Republicans actually governed when in the majority. Their tax cuts for the most wealthy did nothing for us, and the Wall Street crisis/scam happened on their watch.
People need to let go of; fear, despair and anxiety.
