President Obama: 'no regrets' on Islamic Center,I was not sent to Washington
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/08/18/obama-no-regrets-on-islamic-center/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_politicalticker+%28Blog%3A+Political+Ticker%29

After six days of controversy over his remarks on the planned Islamic center near Ground Zero in New York, President Obama said Wednesday he has "no regrets" over speaking up on the issue.

The president's comments came in response to a reporter's question as he greeted members of the audience at an economic panel in the backyard of a home.

Appearing at a political fundraiser in Seattle Tuesday, Obama may have been hinting at the controversy his remarks stirred saying, "I actually have pollsters, so I know when things aren't popular. I know when they don't poll well. But I was not sent to Washington just to do what was popular. I was sent to do what was right."

This comment by President Obama needs more exposure.

5. He is right on this
I am glad he is standing for the constitution on this issue. Reid and the blue dogs need to get their priorities in line and get behind him.

6. Yes, and it was the right position. Many things were not popular in history even though
they were the right thing to do.

8. That's fine, but he's not the one up for reelection in November.
Democrats in embattled states didn't need the extra sturm und drang.

11. Well, most of them are running away from him anyway
They don't want anything to do with him. So let's see them winning because they are such great candidates.

they are going to make him own it, he might as well make them regret they took the side they did.

12. LOL...Like he would have said anything else
Can you imagine if he said "Yes i do regret it and i hope to drag this whole non-issue out as long as possible"?
Word to the MSM...the canned response will always be "No regrets" so dont bother asking.

25. I don't have the polls but your race to the right hasn't been popular
and having Gibbs and Emanuel do sniper shots at the liberals who were your on the ground troops isn't cool. It isn't right, either. Don't offer us disdain, offer us your ear. We have plenty to say and much that would help not only the party but the constituents.
