Interesting watch media ask everyone with a pulse why so many Americans think Obama is a Muslim |
|
and consistently ponder why there is such a disconnect between facts and public perception when it comes to the President.
Especially since THEY are a large part of the reason for this ignorance since, if they actually reported facts rather than the convoluted opinion-mongering they pass off as news, the public would be much more informed. This disconnect speaks volumes about the failures of the media to do their jobs.
It's fascinating how the people responsible for informing the American public simply refuse to acknowledge any responsibility for the woeful ignorance of their audience.

1. because they would rather ask people over and over, than tell them Obama's not a Muslim |
|
they prefer to leave the question unanswered so that doubts can remain in the small mind.

It makes him easier for them to dislike.

3. There is very little real journalism today. The mass media, such as television has no |
|
interest in presenting or debating real issues that affect the world and real people
There reporting of the "mosque" in New York only puts emphasis on your point of there misrepresentation, and it isn't just fox
I don't watch any of the MSM networks. If I want to get news from television, I will watch Bloomberg. They may not be perfect, but they do try to present all views
Since the telecommunications act, the corporate airwaves are mostly dominated by right-wing talk
I would not expect them to criticize themselves, they are doing exactly what they intend to do, create controversy with exaggeration and misrepresentation or even lies

There is no journalism left in this country after the advent of Faux News. The MSM has just become part of the reichwing echo chamber.

4. The Media is not our friend, ever....... |
|
they are not here to better this country, they are here to tear us apart.
As long you one understands that, than you at least have a chance not to succumb to the bullshit that they aim at us day in, day out.

They are not here to tear us apart, nor are they here to inform us. They operate for a profit, and pander to the highest bidder.
In 21st Century America the 'truth' is determined by who has the deepest pockets.

13. They are there to make money. |

If bringing the country together would increase their bottom line, they'd be doing that 24/7.

8. Because they can't call him the N-Word. Muslim=N-Word. The central problem |

Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 05:46 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
is his skin color. As long as people continue to deny that fact, we're going to face this problem over and over again.
The Birther, racist wingnuts are so brilliant! They know how to turn this into a political wedge issue. And since there's an abundance of anti-Muslim and/or Arab hatred, what better way to project that onto Barack Obama and score political points!! :puke:
If you repeat the lie often enough--even after confronted with irrefutable facts--that lie will become truth.
I blame Obama. I blame his press/public affair staff. And I blame the Democrats for allowing these lies to fester in the minds of the American people without hitting back hard.

you can't say anything about race or call anything racist. Only the media can in their own particular way.

they talk out of both sides of their mouths.
Aren't these the same people who were calling him a radical, christian (whatever that is) because of rev.wright.
They ask the question for who and what do they want the answer to be.

14. It was weird hearing the radio guys discuss this... |
|
... during my morning commute. Now, granted, they weren't REALLY exercising any curiosity as to why 97% of respondents in their radio poll (Tulsa, OK, area) would think that Obama is a Muslim; however, one of them began noting that it was odd that so many people would think Obama was a Muslim despite 1) Obama himself stating on numerous occasions that he is a Christian, and despite 2) the fact that Obama had attended a Christian church for 20 years...............
... And it was RIGHT then that one of the other radio guys interjected "purportedly." And in that interrupted moment of silence, the guy repeated for clarity: "purportedly Christian."
Then they both kind of made some agreeable sounds ("Oh, yeah. Right...") and continued talking as if it were no big deal that they had JUST ANSWERED THE QUESTION THEY WEREN'T EVEN ASKING, namely: "Gee, why do so many of our listeners think Obama is a Muslim and not a Christian?"
