Poll question: The Afghanistan troop policy is not so hard to understand
Edited on Sun Dec-06-09 08:40 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
So much disagreement over the parameters of a policy that is not really hard to understand...

In July 2011 at least one American soldier will leave Afghanistan. That will mark the beginning of a process of withdrawal, meaning that at some point after July 2011 some other American soldier or soldiers will leave Afghanistan. And hopefully at some unspecified point in the future there will be no American soldiers in Afghanistan.

Accurate or inaccurate?

1. I was going to vote, "Inaccuarte", but both parts are far more likely than not.
Far more likely.

Someday somewhere in the future not a single person will be in whatever's left of what is now called Afghanistan.

And, sure, soldiers leave daily, and several will leave in 2011.

It's kind of a pointless exercise, as it's written.

6. It is beyond dispute, yet folks continue to disagree.
The internet is a funny place where something is not "accurate" if it isn't draped with the right decorative propaganda

7. I think the total number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan has to decrease for a withdrawal.
So, number of troops in June 2011 must be a higher number than the total number of troops in July 2011.

In your scenario, one soldier could go home, but be replaced by another soldier.
