Who is Alan Simpson, and who are his friends?
I was just trying to track down how much money Alan has, and found some interesting connections:

Visiting Lecturer, Shorenstein Center on Press, Politics and Public Policy, 1997-2000. Director, Institute of Politics, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, 1998-2000.

Shareholder: Firm of Simpson & Simpson (Milward L. Simpson);

Simpson Kepler & Simpson, 1960-1978.

Independent Board of Directors: Formerly American Express Funds, now RiverSource Funds, a subsidiary of Ameriprise Financial, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1997-2006;

Pacificorp, 1997-2000; Board of Directors,

Biogen Corporation (now BiogenIDEC Corporation), Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1997-2004.

Member, Commission on Presidential Debates.

Co-Chair, Continuity of Government Commission.

Co-chair with Senators Bill Bradley, Warren Rudman and Bob Kerry of Americans for Campaign Reform.

Member, Congressionally appointed Iraq Study Group, Co-chaired by Lee Hamilton, Former Member of Congress from Indiana and James Baker, Former Secretary of State and Treasury.

Member, External Advisory Council, BP America Inc.;

Appointed by the President as the Co-Chairman of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (March 2010 - December 2010).

Anyone know where to find that site that shows how people and corporations are interconnected?

Any how, I think Alan Simpson front and center on stage spewing his nonsense than to have him hidden from public view influencing policy.

12. Simpson has been in the background trying to take down Social Security
for decades.

I can't think of a better way to stop him than by placing him front and center in the spotlight for everyone to see what he is doing.

13. Erskine Bowles is as much an opponent of Social Security and Medicare as Simpson is
What's the explanation for his appointment as co-chair?

14. You got me - unless it's more of the same. There are dozens
of right wing foundations and institutes from which speakers emerge with great gravitas to announce that we can't afford Social Security or Medicare or schools or hospitals or anything but a massive military. Seeing someone lose it the way Simpson does on a regular basis strips away some of that gravitas.
