Democrats Move Swiftly to Define Republican Candidates
This is promising.

Democrats Move Swiftly to Define Republican Candidates
By BERNIE BECKER

That didn’t take long.

Voters in Alaska, Arizona and Florida only cast their primary ballots on Tuesday. But Democrats are already trying to define some of the Republicans who emerged (or could emerge) as nominees as extremists or value-challenged.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, for instance, has already released a statement that hits Joe Miller, the Republican Senate candidate in Alaska, on entitlement programs and other issues — even with many absentee ballots in Alaska not yet counted. (Mr. Miller does hold a lead over Senator Lisa Murkowski at this point, a development many political observers didn’t see coming.)

And, in Arizona and Florida, two relatively new House members sitting in competitive districts have come out swinging with new television advertisements against their general-election opponents.

In its release, the D.S.C.C. slams Mr. Miller – who was endorsed by Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Express during his primary campaign – for wanting to transition out Social Security and signaling that he did not believe that federal unemployment benefits were constitutionally authorized.

“Joe Miller seems more intent on imposing a strict social doctrine to please his out-of-state tea party backers but would leave the people of his state high and dry,” said Eric Schultz, a spokesman for the Democratic committee.

2. Yet another reason why 2010 will NOT be 1994 IMHO
I think we're better prepared this time and the "teabaggers" are knocking off more *viable* GOPers and, in some cases causing the GOP primary losers to launch *independent* bids (i.e. Crist, possibly Murkowski).

I think a lot of us saw this coming.................to fruition. The "Tea Frankensteins" have been unleashed by the GOP and are now running loose.

3. The statement is great but are they going to give support to the Democratic challengers?
The repugs are fired up in Alaska and it will take some strong support for the Democratic challengers to grab an upset.

4. I worry they'll use the money, instead, to fail to save some DLCer's seat. (nt)

12. I thought the exact same thing when I saw the headline. Don't think I've ever
seen that.

8. Good news
They have to keep the pressure on though and make sure people are fully aware of these guys' more extreme positions. Stay on the offense.

9. Borrow pages from the GOP playbook.
The GOP constantly works to define the Democrats, the Dems should do the same to them.

10. In the meantime, we have R&L commentators telling us to just hand the keys of the House
to the Rs and don't bother with the election. Seriously, I expect this from the R, but I'm really losing patience with those on the L who are aiding and abetting them. These would include Big Ed and the sainted Cenk. If you want Rs in, just go vote for them in November and be done with it already.

11. They're both ex-R's
so maybe they're getting a tiny bit nostalgic...missing the uproar and commotion on the right.
