Weakness empowers the insane.. |
|
And it is insane to even think that we would return to the economics of George W Bush.
But that is not out of the realm of possibilities.
The weakness of the opposition Party, the Democrats, has them playing defense even though they have huge majorities in both Houses. This only empowers the right-wing nuts. This brings birth to Tea Party ideas.
Instead of telling the cold hard truth about the Republican Party, the Democratic Party hides behind subtle political slogans and appeasement of multiple special interests groups and cannot put forth a comprehensible message for all Americans.
This weakness empowers the Repubs to insists on more taxcuts for the wealthy. The continuation of Bush policies. The Privatization of Social Security. More and more wars and more and more military spending. More cuts for the most needy of our society. Where is the Democratic Party? Creating commissions to solve these problems created by Republicans. Balls? Nobody.

3. That weakness derives from at least 2 factors that readily come to mind: |
|
1. The "drift" to the right that started under Reagan, but was driven by some wealthy people creating think tanks, pushing an rw line via the media, radio talk shows in particular.
2. The influence of corporate cash on the political process.
There are Dems willing to speak truth to power. They typically don't take corporate cash. The Dems that do take the cash are generally to the right of Nixon in their politics. They are doing the bidding of them that brung 'em.

4. As I was explaining to a friend the other day... |
|
...while the Republicans are evil and stupid, the Democrats are craven and sellouts.
Take yer pick.

...the most important posts I've read in days. It identifies a critical problem with this administration.
THIS is important! The President needs to step up to the plate and demonstrate strong leadership.
I will add only one thing to the OP... An additional benefit from standing up against the RW will be a signal to the Left that it is time for THEM to stand up. As angry as the left is with the actions of the current administration...that same force will turn around and support him if he were to support us.
