Hey! Is Joe the plumber a member of a union? Are plumbers in unions? |
|
Cause if he is he should be asked what he thinks about all the GOP attacks on union. I'm just saying....

and he's not in a union. The plumbers union is referred to as the UA, for united Association. It also includes pipefitters and steamfitters.

but I don't believe unions are as Democratic as they used to be. The Democratic party has abandoned labor in many ways, not the least of them being selling union jobs to 3rd world countries through the promotion and encouraged passing of trade agreements designed to cripple the collective bargaining process. So, short answer, who gives a shit about Dope the Plumber, we should however be concerned about the causes for the drop in union support as a whole, and the attacks on unions by "the labor party"..I would expect attacks by the GOP, not so much Democrats..very disturbing IMHO.

8. It's been a growing problem.... |

A friend of mine is an IBEW political director, and while the union leadership strongly supports the Democratic Party, many of its members vote Republican because of Gays, God, and Guns. Heavy on the last item. My friend says he always tells rank-and-file members, "Good luck buying ammo when you don't have a job."

issue outside of the gungeon, but you are right.
I really believe gays are not a real issue to blue collar at all, that is an excuse ginned up by pols who have lost union support IMHO. Actually, I believe the largest issue is the exportation of jobs by Democrats. This issue is wholly avoided by the same party idiots who malign union members as being homophobic, religious zealots..make no mistake, the party's unconditional love of trade agreements has and will again cost our party more at the polls than any other single issue.

9. Not all plumbers are union members. |
|
In fact, plumbers as most people see them are not in a union. Most plumbers that are in a union do work on construction jobs.
