C-Span: DCCC Chair Chris Van Hollen LIVE at 10AM at the National Press Club
Begins soon.
DEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGN CHAIR EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE AHEAD OF MIDTERMS

Responding to reports suggesting that Democrats are insecure about their chances in the November midterm elections, Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) will champion his party’s agenda in remarks to the National Press Club today. He is currently chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is charged with helping reelect Democratic House members and coordinating election campaign messages nationwide.

During the address, Van Hollen is expected to outline the Democrats’ strategy to keeping a majority in Congress with remarks focusing on the GOP's recently announced plans to revive the economy. Another topic will be how the “message war” plays into election strategy and opinion polls.

Van Hollen also says he will look ahead to pending action in the House on extending the tax cuts passed under President Bush, as well as legislation he sponsored in response to this year’s Supreme Court ruling allowing corporate and special interest groups to finance campaign ads for candidates.
