The 2010 Election: Revenge of the Bigots |
|
Let's face the facts shall we. Republicans are more energized and passionate because they're motivated by hate. Hate that a Black man is their president. Hate that being a White person is not some guarantee against poverty in America. Hate that other non-White, non-Heterosexual, non-Christian people dare to live, love, and worship openly in this country.
Yes, the lackluster economy and the Left not feeling overly enthusiastic are factors, but the bigger factor is that a significant portion of the American electorate is bigoted and racist, and in off year elections, their numbers are going to be bigger than usual.
On the bright side, maybe this is their last gasp. Given the demographics of America, the Republicans may win this battle but lose an entire generation. After McCain, the next senator from AZ will probably be Hispanic, and the same is probably true for Nevada as well.

1. If the tearacists sweep the election this Fall, they will find ways to extend their 'last gasp.' |
|
The census just happened. Republicans may be able to rig districts against Democrats for decades.
Prepare yourselves.

2. They're Fighting A Losing Demographics Battle |
|
Also, given the housing crisis and demographics, re-districting is not nearly a guarantee as it used to be. People are roaming the country looking for work, and new immigrants are the fastest rising populations.

3. You know what I find so very disgusting |
|
about this, is the media. They give these racists and bigots a platform to spew their hate and violence. If they were fair and balanced like they say they wouldn't even bother to report half the stuff they do. An average American like ourselves is stuck because we don't have a platform to tell it like it really is. We don't have politicians who support what we voted for them to do. From the president on down to the lowest elected official on the totem pole. VERY few speak up for us. We do have a handful but they can't take on the whole congress. It is a shame that money rules. That's the problem with having the trash in office that we have, an average American who has the best interest of the public and not the corporations doesn't have a chance to get elected to office. There also should be a way we as a people could put on our ballots to vote for term limits for these crooks and throw them out of office.
You hear, well yeah term limits is not voting for them. But with no one having the billions to run a campaign who you gonna vote for as a replacement. So you are stuck with the same old crap.

4. Generally agree with your OP, but just because a candidate is Hispanic |
|
does not automatically mean an improvement over an Anglo candidate. The Republican candidate for governor here in New Mexico, named Martinez, proudly advertises her enthusiastic endorsement by Sarah Palin. And yes, she is as disgusting as one would expect based on that fact alone.
