1. Lame, nmbluesky.
One is a former president, one is the current one; do you think they shouldn't talk? Do you think Obama should be ungracious, to what end?

7. Shunning W seems to be what his own party has been doing lately, I don't see why Obama...
should be more eager to fraternize with W than the repubs are.

9. Yes, it is perfectly acceptable to treat a war criminal like a war criminal
Instead of having private chats with the bushes he should be prosecuting them. But of course that would be unseemly.

I bet ever POW who died at the hands of these criminals who promoted and approved torture would want civility above all else.

15. Yes, in my mind, like yours...W is an asshole war criminal...still, Obama needed to chat with him...
They do not like each other but the need for discussion was apparent...

Republicanism is wrought with Greed, self interest, and Vanity...much more so than the Dems...

19. Hell yes, he IS supposed to shun W! W! has NO redeeming qualities
and no W voters ever voted or will vote Democratic.

It's just as bad as Bill Clinton disgracing himself by eulogizing Nixon.

25. Pragmatism is Obama's problem.
He'll compromise any principle. And compromise suits the oligarchy.

I agree that President Obama shouldn't shun GWB. He should puke on his forehead.

"Yes, we looked behind the desk."
"Ok, we'll let you know if it turns up."
"No, I don't think the Service Service took it."
"Ok, gotta go, George."

13. Hmmm..reminding everyone he finished what Bush started?
On the conservative radio channel I listen to during my commute (they have traffic every 10 minutes. NPR doesn't.) the announcer said "President Obama will speak with President Bush today, and give a speech tonight, but there will be no 'Mission Accomplished' banner."

I thought that was a very adept way of reminding us all just who had to clean up this mess.

to White House. Clinton did it with Reagan and Bush I, etc...

Bush is the former President. If our current President wants to have a conversation with a former President then that's fine by me.

-that some here don't even give that a second thought is actually quite telling.
