Chris Matthews attacks President for using Teleprompter during Oval Office address! |
|
Excuse me? He claims that the Teleprompter "gets between him and us."
He's supposed to just "wing it" or, as Matthews says, "speak from the heart" during a nationally-televised address from the Oval Office?
Wow . . .

1. At least President Obama knows what the words he's speaking mean, |
|
and he knows how to pronounce them properly, and form proper sentences when he speaks. His voice isn't irritating, and he doesn't make strange jerky moves with his eyes and facial muscles.
So, I'll take the teleprompter and an intelligent Obama over no teleprompter and idiot son. And didn't Bush use a teleprompter most of the time as well? It just seems like he didn't cause he had such a hard time reading and talking at the same time.
That college education did wonders for Dubya, didn't it? :puke:

I recall seeing teleprompters at Bush speeches... and wondering why the hell he had such a difficult time when he had the speech right there!

I was impressed that he had only one semi-blunder during the whole speech! And he recovered nicely!
With all he has to do, taking the time to memorize a stupid speech is hardly a priority! Jeebus! The stupid burns, pinches, and leaves marks!!!

9. And who reads much of his show from a prompter |
|
His lead-ins are clearly scripted, as is his "Let Me Finish" commentary . . .
But the Leader of the Free World, whose every word is analyzed and studied, and can have enormous impact on the world is supposed to go unscripted when making a speech discussing the end of a war.

|
Can't the poor guy do anything right? He moves his hands in the wrong way, reads from a teleprompter, show arrogance by jutting his jaw out. I feel so sorry for him. Obama tries so hard to do everything right, but gets criticized anyway.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

|
Can you imagine Matthews' and others' reactions had the President just "spoken from the heart" last night?
They would have been all over him for not bothering to prepare for such a momentous speech.

22. Getting so sick of these pointless attacks on Obama - |
|
ugh - is anyone else????
Maybe if our supposed Cable station started concentrating on the good Obama has done, what he has accomplished - instead of nit-picking every little thing he does, just maybe Democrats would be a little more motivated to come out and vote in November.
I know Obama isn't all we had hoped for, but I wish people would get off his back already - at least until the midterms are over. Then on November 3rd, go ahead and beat him up again.
I'm sorry - I'm ranting. It's just getting to me. I am so afraid of the orange boner as speaker of the house. I want more Dems in Congress, in local governments - not less.

other president, according to tweety. Has any president given a speech from the oval office w/o one, or notes, or something? That wouldn't be the time or place to mess up a speech, despite what tweety thinks.

Some people are just not good at extempore speech, or winging it as you say. Atleast Obama can pronounce NUCLEAR instead of NUKULAR.

And neither of his guests pointed out that EVERY president uses a teleprompter during an Oval Office address. They don't just "speak from the heart." That was so ridiculous-especially when he said that Obama may as well have just let the "damn teleprompter" give the address. :eyes:

*Hey, can somebody at DU come up with a "stupid burns" smiley or something? That would make discussing things like this much easier IMHO.
