Note to Chris Matthews and others: EVERY President in the past 30 years has used a teleprompter

This is another case of holding Obama to a higher standard than any other President has ever been held.

We saw... when Obama went to the GOP luncheon in January ... and took on hundreds of Republicans... and kicked their asses.... how well he is "off the cuff".

But that's not good enough.

It doesn't matter that Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Dubya used a teleprompter for just about every public speech they gave. Asswipes like Tweety continue to hold this President to a higher standard.

When guys like Tweety... supposedly "on the left"... are doing it... I guess we can begin to understand why the administration is frustrated with the "Professional Left".

They give no quarter. Just like black men in society in general, Obama has to be twice as good as any white President before him in order to measure up.

It's not just the teleprompter... it's everything:

- Doesn't matter that Bush took 2.5 times as many vacation days in his first 20 months as Obama has. Obama is held to a higher standard.

- Doesn't matter that Reagan was allowed to blame Carter for the economy well into 1983... When Obama (rightly) blames Bush, he is playing the "blame game" and "not accepting responsibility".

- Doesn't matter that every President in the past 50 years has remodeled the Oval Office to their liking. When Obama does it, he's being "uppity".

Tweety. You suck. You should know better.

Oh yeah.. I forgot... you "almost forgot he was black".

2. Don't forget that he's arrogant because he holds his chin high when he speaks.
He's lecturing when he points, repeatedly. He talks down to people and he flaunts his vocabulary.

Poor guy. We've never had such a common, friendly, gracious president. To take all the "stuff" that's been thrown his way and for him to smile so beautifully (when he has to be hurting inside), is incredible.

He is MY president, for sure! Biden is MY VP, too.

14. I like your point that he is common, friendly, gracious and that brings out the jerks
I guess it's ego?

What a stupid issue, the teleprompter that all others have used.

3. What do they think he has a total recall
gosh giving him credit to be an out and out genisus. I mean who can give a complete speech from memory. When they didn't have teleprompters they used the printed page in front of them. Hell Bush couldn't even give a complete sentence AND HE "USED" A TELEPROMPTER.

4. Criticizing the President is what gets ratings. Tweety is pandering to the angry left.
It is disgusting but not surprising.

5. Why doesn't anyone note Sarah Palin's use of a teleprompter.
Hell, even with the teleprompter, Caribou Barbie sounds like a seventh grader reciting a book report. She's just parroting the words in her speech (that someone else wrote for her) without understanding a word she's saying.

Take her off the teleprompter, and just watch her fall apart and spew word salad!

And they harp on Obama using a teleprompter...

8. You are wrong.
Not in the last 30 years, every president in the last 50 years. The tele-prompter was invented when Eisenhower was president, and Ike was the first to use it. Since then, every president (and most public speakers) have used one. Before that, they read off of sheets of paper, or index cards.

10. Well presented and argued.
It was only yesterday when Tweety sang a completely different tune. He is not trustworthy, his flag flows with the prevalence of the wind.

It does not mean I'm not happy he is predominantly in the camp of moderate liberals right now. Any exposure helps.
But I remember what he said before. He is into it for himself alone.

11. The double standard is unbelievable. Most laughably the oval office redecoration "scandal"
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 10:59 PM by pa28
Putting a personal stamp on the oval office is traditional and Obama used campaign funds rather than public money to complete the job. This particular "story" is vapor unless you have an ideological axe to grind and the "story" got quite a bit of mileage in the MSM.

13. When they didn't use a teleprompter they had cue cards like Letterman

and news people use to use before the days.

Gee, I wonder what those jerks with the national networks use when they provide the news?

Does Tweety really ad lib all his verbiage during the show? For the most part he probably does but there are parts when he is not interacting with guests that appears more likely he uses teleprompters.

ESPECIALLY WHEN Tweety is talking directly to the viewers they pop up a graphic with the words he is reciting.

15. I heard that yesterday and almost fell out of my chair...
here's a talking head on TV talking about not using a teleprompter when that is exactly what he uses, and so does just about every other individual on the tube or radio.

If Matthews took both feet out his mouth for 30 seconds, he might make some sense. The man has a difficult time engaging his brain before spouting off; by far, it is worst when he asks a question of a guest, then answers the question and pillories the guest for not answering the question after being given a 3 second shot before being interrupted by the "Golden Boy".

I'm actually surprised the goomer has a show, he's incredibly rude, has a very shaky "interview" process and mote often than not, comes off like a moron; I can see him as a slightly left version of Limbaugh...hot air that must escape by constantly jabbering on.
