White House press corps guessing game about Obama's religion continues
Is he a Muslim?
No.

is he a Liberation Theology-ist?
No.

They could keep this up for a while, there's all kinds of religions left to guess.

WASHINGTON -- White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says President Barack Obama is a "committed, mainstream Christian" - contrary to the claims of Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck.

Beck recently claimed that Obama practices a version of Christianity that is not recognized by most people. Beck says this "liberation theology" is all about "oppressors" and "victims."

Gibbs was asked about Beck's assertions Thursday at the White House press briefing.

Gibbs says, "I can only imagine where Mr. Beck conjured that from."

This is sick, people are out of work, there is still a war and so many other problems in this country but all the media can do is ask about where Obama goes to church.

:wtf:

3. And it was Bill Press who asked the question today in the briefing, asking

what Gibbs thought of Glenn Beck's assertion that Obama practices "(Black) Liberation Theology." (Beck left out the word "Black" on the Faux interview, but he uses it on his show every time.

8. I believe it was Press who was pontificating about this on CNN the other nite
I thought Al Sharpton had the best answer, which he gave to some absurd Conservative blogger who couldn't keep her yap shut while anyone else was talking.

I have to paraphrase but it was something like, "You were just complaining that Obama attended Rev. Wright's church for 20 years & soaked up all those hateful sermons...that was a Christian church not a Muslim mosque. Make up your mind".

2. This from a guy (Beck) that is a Mormon.
A group whose founders espoused views considerably crazier than 'liberation theology'. Plural marriage, some to 14 year olds, claims of angelic visits and golden tablets.

I've known many Mormons and most are nice folks, but if he was born today instead of in the 1800's he would have been David Koresh or Jim Jones.

4. He was.
Remember, he was run out of Ohio. He was killed in Illinois, and became their martyr. They went into exile because of the dangers to their members.

I have known many nice Mormons, too. I simply don't share their beliefs, and I let it be known that all questions of faith are off-limits in our friendships or social interactions.

5. too true
revisionist, white washing their history is a huge part of their business (Mormon Inc) and clearly plays a part in the image they project today. It will be even squeakier and cleaner in another 25 years.

6. Obama should make a statement akin to "Glenn Beck is just as Christian as I am."
