I wonder who is behind this Hillary for President AD?
President Obama has done many things that he said he would do when he ran yet his numbers keep dropping. He was left in a real mess left by the Republicans. What else can he do to gain confidence of Americans other than the unemployment dropping? Do you think if his numbers are low in 2012 Hillary will run?

7. Can Hillary stop the AD? If the Dentist is doing this on his own
and using her name and picture it seems like she could legally put a stop to it.

If Ms. Clinton makes no attempt to stop the ad, that means she endorses the content?

10. I voted for Hillary in the Primaries and President Obama
in the Presidential election. I like Both. I do think the economy will pick up by 2012 which will help President Obama's numbers.

14. If President Obama's numbers are really low before the 2012 election
I could see her running if she chooses to do so. Its too early for those kinds of ads. Plenty of time for things to pick up. I just want to see either win in 2012..

It's no concern of mine.

I am quite happy with Ms. Clinton working on one of the most worthy causes of the last 100 years: Middle East Peace.

16. First - she has been a little busy this week and doesn't have time to respond.
Second - the ad itself says no one has approved it.

And thank you for all your bogus concern.

Legally, public figures and celebrities lose a certain amount of control over the use of their name and likeness. For example, think of Falwell vs. Flynt (the basis for The People Versus Larry Flynt). When one is a public figure, a lot of this stuff comes under fair usage so I doubt Hillary could have it pulled even if she wanted to make the effort.

EDIT TO ADD: Unless Obama chooses to retire for some reason or suffers a major deterioration in his health (neither of which seems likely), I think it's extremely unlikely that Hillary will run in 2012.

5. This push for Clinton is not helpful and it comes from some who long
to go back to the days when the Clinton's were in power. Some people think we can recreate or revive old history. With the economy the way it is, it is nice to look back to the days of prosperity during the Clinton era. But, if these people think we can recreate that period of time, I think they are sadly mistaken.

6. Someone who is having a hell of a hard time getting over the primary
When asked why he put the ad up, DeJean told CNN Thursday that "I'm a dentist and I don't think this country is headed in the right direction."

link

June 2008:

One determined individual, a Chicago dentist named William DeJean, paid for ads to support former Democratic candidate and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton. "Tell the Democratic superdelegates to support Hillary Clinton. Paid for by William DeJean. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee," the ad says.

DeJean says Clinton was treated unfairly. So he says he paid an ad company $20,000 to make a few ads and place them on TV. "You tell them what you want, and they make them up ... Montana, South Dakota ... I had them play 16 times in each state," he said.

on her plate than putting a stop to this *AD*? It's the dentist's money and he's free to buy ads as he sees fit.

Perhaps that will hold some sway.

37. His numbers have RISEN in the last week and are MUCH higher than
Bill Clinton's were in 1994 - he was at 39%. Now, do you recall anyone lobbying for Jerry Brown, the last man in the race to be defeated by Bill Clinton to run in 1996? In his case, there was at least a big ideological difference and Jerry Brown was not in his administration.

Consider two things:

1) Most of these stories have surfaced on Fox or right leaning shows or columns. Remember Operation Chaos anyone? Note that nothing Bill or Hillary Clinton have done has fueled these stories.

2) In the open year 2008, by this time in 2006, the preprimaries were starting - and all the candidates declared by early 2007. Hillary is still Secretary of State. She would have to abruptly drop that job and declare against her boss. Anyone citing the approval numbers, when it is almost always the case that the SoS polls higher than the President - even when it was Albright and Bill Clinton, needs to estimate some drop off of people now happy with BOTH her and Obama (and there is likely extensive overlap) switch to NOT approve of her.
