Van Hollen fires back at NYT assertion that Dems will give up on vulnerables
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/117289-van-hollen-fires-back-at-nyt-assertion-that-dems-will-give-up-on-vulnerables

Van Hollen released a statement saying that the story "erroneously" said that the DCCC would redirect resources to two dozen viable campaigns if a review in the next two weeks showed that vulnerables weren't gaining ground.

....

Van Hollen said "aggressive" campaigning was continuing race-by-race, focusing on voter outreach and Republican policies.

"Every campaign cycle the DCCC and other campaign committees face difficult resource allocation decisions and this election cycle is no different," Van Hollen said. "What is different is the kind of choice before the American people at this critical juncture – do we move forward and build on the fragile economic progress we have made or do we adopt an economic agenda that will kill the budding job growth and send us back into a deep economic ditch.”

2. with his pants down!
This is the same van Hollen that would not say he would vote against cuts in Social Security and Medicare, instead he said that he needed to look at the whole package. It is going to be an up or down vote on the whole Catfood package, like it is with BRAC.

3. I really wish we could oust him. But given his position in the DCCC
I doubt it will ever happen.

6. Oust him? Why?
Because you think he is not "perfect"? He is pretty good AFAIK. If all these, "let's oust him", "let's primary her", etc. would actually come to fuition, we would most likely be left with a tiny, powerless, and inconsequential minority in Congress. but boy! would they ever be lovedand we would feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

10. Because, far far too often, he doesn't represent my views.
Isn't that the point of voting for someone? In hopes they'll represent your views? What am I missing?

Van Hollen simply doesn't represent my views. I'd like to have a representative who does.

11. STILL singing that old song, eh, Indiana?
What reasonable decision-maker would pre-judge the whole package before seeing it? YOU ever make decisions?

7. Considering how the NYT pushed Bush's WMD claims, I wouldn't believe them over Van Hollen. nt

4. Van Hollen is my congressman and has done well by me. He's not stupid and would never cut...
or even suggest cuts to SS and Medicare. Knowing him and how committed he is to progressive values; not to mention the fact that he represents a solidly, liberal constituency, he'd be a fool to even go down that road.

I don't understand why he would even hesitate to answer the question. That would be utterly stupid of him!

5. Van Hollen seems like a very fine and decent liberal Democrat who's working hard to retain the House
I like him a lot.
