No....it needs a cult of personality.

It can't be Beck. Palin. if she has a lick of sense (I know I know) will not be swallowed up by it largely because she can't do "angry and perky at the same time". Dobbs could do it.... He is angry enough.....but it take an actual politician.

I am calling it now Santorum-North 2012.

1. Palin can certainly do angry and perky at the same time.
She did nothing but throughout the '08 campaign.

9. I guess I just don't see angry white guys going for Palin unless it invlovs som lotion.
I think they would reject her if someone like Santoum took up the mant of leading the, I am distinguishing however between Fundies and Teabaggers... The fundies are gaga over her. The Tea baggers not so much,

12. My thoughts exactly
She can't walk and chew gum at the same time, but she's proven over and over again that she's mastered the art of being angry and perky at once.

4. One computer model agrees that Santorum would be the guy.
In fact, I think it is his last and only shot at political celebrity.

He was crushed by Casey in Pennsylvania. So his own state's constituents voted his sorry ass out of the upper chamber of the Congress. A very wise call by voters in Pennsylvania.

Now he starts popping up at fundraisers and GOP dinners in Iowa. Uh oh.

At some point, likely a long time ago, the person he could have been gave way to the Ego he is now, and it's leading him around the country whispering sweet nothings about the presidency. I could see him marshalling the resources of the unstable far Right and the network of nutbags out there in hyper-Republicanland.

He doesn't strike me as terribly competitive for the GOP nomination but he and Palin could duke it out for the crazies that now form the majority of the GOP base.

8. It would be interesting to read a responsible interview with Mitt Romney
to see how he would react to the threat of a Teabagger movement forming a third party if Republicans don't nominate someone sufficiently insane for the Beck / Bachmann contingent.

Romney would likely smooth-talk his way into generalities but the thought must have occurred to him and his handlers by now that the more buzz the nutbags generate and receive the less likely it is he, Romney, will ever get the Republican nomination, or if he did get it, would find that it wasn't worth having.

13. All of its "leaders" are the people that caused the financial crisis,
Or have political views that are the same as those that caused the financial crisis.

The tea party movement was DOA.

14. They'll go for 2012's craziest ticket possible....
... as the tent on the right is shrinking all the time.

For our country's sake, let's hope it's:

15. Alan Keyes is perfect for them
For all of his nutism, he's charismatic and an outstanding speaker. His motto could be:

Alan Keyes: Because an intelligent nut is hard to find!
