defining 'rich' properly. Mike Barnicle says he's playing the old 'class warfare' card.

Get a clue! These greedy people were doing very well during the Clinton years when the top tax rate was 39.6%.

1. Class warfare is waged ever day on working people...
It's just called "good business" when working people are screwed.

3. Exactly. Joe even whined those people hit by higher taxes would not put that addition on porch if
they have to pay that 4% more--and it's 4% more on the margin. They never point that out!

28. I have always wondered why we reward failure...
Many CEO's have ruined companies, stripping them of the most experienced & knowledgeable people. Then they are rewarded with tens of millions in cash and stock, negating the "savings". The notion where "1 share = i vote" is pathetic, especially when those who own common stock in a company, together, only rises to some 40%, limiting the stockholders votes, while those that control the majority of the stock, generally the Board members, give away millions to clowns.

Anyone in "normal" circumstances gets canned and would never get hired in an industry if they did what these clowns do. Essentially, they are stealing profits.

31. Yes, they are. We are pretty powerless to stop them, seeing as they own our
elected officials and government. We exist to them as a natural resource/means of production to be exploited for their profit. We are economic cannon fodder.

43. George "Dumbya" Bush and Carly Fiorina are prime examples of that...
When Republicans ruin businesses and an economy, a la Sarah Palin re: Wasila, they are rewarded. Wall Street fails? They are rewarded. Car industry in trouble? Oh, nooooo.... we can't "bail" the *American* owned and operated car industry out, but we'll allow Wall Street crooks their bonuses. And we'll put Dumbya Bush in office. And we'll put Sarah "Quitter" Failin' on a pedestal. And, we'll even put Carly Fiorina in the Senate after she wrecked HP and ran it into the ground.

It's *always* a double standard, particularly for Republicans who fail upward!

I saw Scooter Libby on Faux last night and threw up!! :puke:

2. That's because every one of them would be affected...
They are all in the brackets that would pay some 5% more...and who cares but them?

Most people watching would not be affected at all...and for the record, each of them could afford a good tax attorney and Accountant, (they may already receive such services under their contracts), that could find 100-1000 loopholes. They just want everything handed to them w/o paying for anything.

Pigs at the trough...x(

9. Precisely...but, it is still obvious that those that will be affected...
are so damn cheap, they want everyone else to pay their way. The arrogance of these people is incredible. Why don't they just say, "Look people, I make x million dollars, but I want you to pay while I get a break. Sure, you may not be able to feed your family a couple of days before payday, but I need to make payments on my new boat, the pool and my Mercedes. You understand, right?".

Class Warfare?...Damn Straight.

13. I heard that rant a while back ONCE. Now NEVER AGAIN.
Cannot watch Maria any more. I switched over the GMA where I saw the lion story out of Vegas and learned something about lion behavior. Also Dr. Oz told his story about reluctantly having his first routine colonoscopy and having a pre-cancerous polyp removed. It was very informative...

NPR was peddling the sob story of the rich as well.

We see where the real commitments of the media are as soon as that top tax bracket gets mentioned at all. They immediately fall back into the true reactionary mode of their calling.

Many of you know i am borderline pissed with Obama not being progressive but seeing these attacks on MJ with no one defending the prez is a bit annoying.
These dumb bush tax cuts NEED to exprie and ANYONE defending them should be shot.

Here is hoping Obama/Congress doesnt buckle under the pressure and extend them. Pattern shows democrats almost always give in so this will be interesting.

36. Scarborough claimed that President is taxing "the most productive people"
Edited on Wed Sep-08-10 09:18 PM by Empowerer
Since when is the amount of money one earns a measure of one's productivity? Certainly a third-grade teacher is at least as and probably more productive than someone who manipulates a hedge fund. The women who clean my office deep into the night for minimum wage are considerably more productive than I could ever hope to be.

The notion that the uber rich are more productive and, therefore, more valuable in this society is rather sickening.
