Murkowski, Haase talk ballot switch--she might seek Libertarian nod in Alaska
The Alaska Libertarian Party’s Senate candidate said Tuesday that after meeting with Sen. Lisa Murkowski, both he and the recently defeated Republican senator are considering whether she should continue her run by becoming the party’s new nominee.

Libertarian Party nominee David Haase told POLITICO he met with Murkowski at the home of a private citizen Tuesday morning in Anchorage, where they discussed whether she was in interested in replacing Haase as the party’s nominee on the ticket this November

1. Come On - What The Hell Is Going On?.........
Murkowski a Repug loses to Miller a Teabagger - she concedes - now she is talking with a Libertarian to become that party's nominee. Don't people know how to lose anymore? Is there so much money to be made that Murkowski would make such a switch? Will this Libertarian be paid off to let Murkowski become the nominee?

I just don't understand this anymore. People spending untold fortunes to get elected to office. I'm thinking of the likes of Fiorina and Whitman. In the past - Romney.

Is it ego? Is it power? Is it money? Cause it certainly isn't because they want to work for the us and make America better cause when they do get elected they forget about us.

What motivates these people to do spend this kind of money and make these kind of deals?

6. Many in Alaska were thinking that when Joe Miller won
it might help Scott McAdams bid for Senator..so if Murkowski does run on the Libertarian ticket will that help even more?

<snip>

"Until August 24 Sitka's Scott McAdams was expected to be the Democrats' sacrificial candidate in the fall election for US Senate seat held by Lisa Murkowski the past eight years. Murkowski's approval rating among all Alaska voters made her the odds-on favorite against any Democratic challenger.

Under the circumstances, we are fortunate indeed that a candidate so well qualified as Scott McAdams stepped into the breech. Only a few weeks ago who could have known that he would be running against a candidate ensconced in the very fringe of far-right politics, and not, as expected, a widely respected and conventionally conservative Republican incumbent?

Alaska's Republican voters certainly have the right to cannibalize their own establishment, as they have done in turning Lisa Murkowski out of office. On an individual basis, those voters are also perfectly entitled to vote against their own self-interest insofar as it is affected by the federal subsidies Alaskans enjoy, but which are adamantly opposed by Mr. Miller.

But it's a fair question, at this point of the game, as to whether a majority of Alaska voters in a wide-open election are ready to buy into Mr. Miller's idea of the role of US Senator from Alaska. That idea may be summed up as the opposite of the one practiced by the late Sen. Ted Stevens."

I know nothing about Scott McAdams but from reading his bio he seems light years better than the repubs.

7. Didn't the libertarian board just vote that down unanimously?
The candidate can back out, but the people who pick who replaces him on the ballot just ruled her out. No?

8. I though that's what I read, as well. Perhaps they've changed their mind or are thinking of it.
