Credit where credit is due: Two Cheers for the Obamas today
Great speech from the president (ridiculing today's Republicans and vowing to let the fatcats' windfalls expire).

and...

Great DANCE event in the White House -- the first of its kind -- thanks to the first lady.

2. Now only if he had some help from the Dems in the House/Senate...
preferably those who are safe. I understand if vulnerable Dems can't go all out and be "gangsta" like the president, but there are a lot of Democrats who should be standing up and hitting the Repukes back HARD for their utter stupidity!!

5. OMG... Better never to look at those!!
These are true ignoramuses who don't even know what dance as an art form is. They've probably never even heard of Judith Jamison.

I was (still am a little) a professional modern dancer, and it's MAJOR that dance was recognized as an art form in the White House. Their program sounds perfectly fitting, too -- absolutely "American" as Jamison said.

It makes me sick that so many people don't have a clue, but that's why this sort of presentation, and respect, are so important.

Kudos to the first lady!

6. Oh! This dance thing, this is really great and it delights me.
It sounds like a true dance event, masters and students and joy. There are a few things that would please me more than this, but not many. So great for the young dancers. And so fitting for a treasure like Ms Jamison to be honored with dance in our First Household. She has contributed so much for so many years.
I love the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, for making this event happen, and the fact that there will be more is just wonderful.
Best news I have heard in weeks. So thanks.

7. I think it's great, too.
Dance as a concert art is still in its infancy relative to music and drama. This country was key to its development and it's about time it was celebrated!

Looks like a terrific program -- I confess I really can't stand Twyla Tharp, but the rest looked great. :hi:
