Representative Joe Sestak is bringing in another big gun to help raise cash for his Senate bid.

According to Mr. Sestak’s campaign, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. is to attend a fundraiser for the congressman on Sept. 13 in the Philadelphia area — exactly a week before President Obama is scheduled to help the Pennsylvania Democrat line his campaign accounts.

Like the president and other top national Democrats, Mr. Biden had backed Senator Arlen Specter’s bid to win a sixth term this year. But, with Mr. Sestak having unseated the incumbent in a hard-hitting primary, the vice president and other Democrats are pitching in as Mr. Sestak tries to keep the seat in their party’s hands.
