Economist Zandi: John Boehner 'just wrong' about Obama stimulus ..... aka The Stimulus Worked

Washington
House Republican Leader John Boehner delivered a stinging critique of Obama Administration economic policies at the City Club of Cleveland on Tuesday in
which he said that “all this stimulus spending has gotten us nowhere.”

When asked about that statement at a Monitor-sponsored breakfast for reporters on Wednesday, Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics and
co-founder of Economy.com said, “that is just wrong, the stimulus has been very helpful.”

Mr. Zandi was an advisor to John McCain’s presidential campaign. The Wall Street Journal has called him “the de facto chief economist to Congress.”

In noting his disagreement with the Republican leader, Zandi said “we would be in a measurably worse place if not for the stimulus. I don’t think it is any
coincidence that the great recession ended at precisely the same time that the stimulus, and in this case when I say stimulus I am talking about the
….was providing its maximum economic benefit.” That maximum benefit came in the second and third quarter
of 2009, Zandi said.

The downward trend stopped when the stimulus kicked in.

1. Nice find. Honest economists on both sides of the aisle credit Obama's successful stimulus plan. nt

2. Facts are facts
One major reason that the recovery has not gotten further along is because the republicans
have been blocking many measures in order to keep the economy down in hopes that
the hurt that Americans feel will help them return to power. Right now they are blocking
a federally backed loan program to small businesses because that would mean jobs.

We can not let them (the republicans aka The Party of the Rich) back into power.

I know. My anger at them is driving me to work hard at OFA and GOTV with my group.

Keep up the good work! We need more facts at DU to drown out the bullshit.

6. Boehner keeps trotting around the nation and peddling his outright lies.

Yet, the goofs in his district will re-elect him in a landslide.

Why? Because he's a Republican. His district wouldn't vote for a Democrat if the Republicans had Hitler as their candidate.

Travel around the northern rural parts of Boehner's district and you'll see a bunch of pro-life symbols painted on entire sides of barns. These people think abortion is the only issue and Boehner is their man because he SAYS he's pro-life.

How such a drunken narcissist can get re-elected despite his constant disregard of the unemployed and this nation in his attempt to gain more power as House Speaker speaks volumes on the ignorance of the voters of his district.

7. How can anyone vote for a man that spent $82,000 on golf in 1 year?
Boner was a well known boozer and skirt chaser when he was in the Ohio Senate and his
non stop protection of the wealthy and powerful in D.C. since he went to Congress is known
too. Boner could screw a sheep on his front lawn and still people would vote for him .....
