(Dem's enthusiasm was 25% in last week's polling, so that's a 6 point increase. And R's enthusiasm is down two from 51%.)

5. I'm confident Dems will be fine....
and I will definitely be getting them some votes...but they are just the lesser-of-two evils.

6. An ethical dilemma
I will indeed be voting democratic once again in the midterms. But I am rapidly approaching my limit with the lesser of two evils argument. As I get older, I will not vote for evil, period. Lesser, greater, evils are all evil.

7. Though I still believe polls suck, I do feel some movement in our direction...
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 04:57 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
...for two main reasons:

1. The growing prospect that at least enough Independents see the Republicans for who they are and understand that they offer absolutely NOTHING that will be good for America beside teabaggers.

2. Speaking of which, the teabaggers are dividing the Republican party. I believe that there's a good chance that with that happening, at least the Senate looks good for Dems. And perhaps some House seats, too! (Good on Huffington Post for this positive gem: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/13/breaking-the-wave-five-pr_n_715026.html). Once we progressives, Democrats and Independents (and some Republicans) see that things are breaking our way and looking up, perhaps that'll make us more confident to get out and vote...and help others get out, too!

Bottom line: this is about the ground game. The Democrats still have more money, by and large, than the Republicans. Steele has been a complete and utter failure. In the past, the Dems have won races even when Republicans had much more money. It's really about GOTV. When we show up, we win! When we don't show up, they win!! Simple as that...

10. At least the enthusiasm numbers are up..
but if memory serves, there was a 5 point difference in the generic ballot right before the '94 midterms.

11. To have to hate our enemies more than love our sometimes allies.
The right-wing is the enemy. The Democrats may disappoint and indeed represent less-than-progressive politics. The key thing is to fundamentally transform the country. To do that we must prevent the right-wing from gaining governing power. They haven't had it since 2006, and things are slowly going in the right direction.

15. I wonder what the "very + somewhat enthusiastic" gap is
This is "very enthusiastic." I couldn't find the numbers for just "enthusiastic."

I wish our side was "very" but "somewhat" isn't bad. If a Democrat is "somewhat enthusiastic" they are still probably going to vote and vote Democratic. You don't get extra points if somebody jabs the screen harder. It's unenthusiastic that would be the problem.

18. Great news
There has been so much good polling news for dems over the past 2 weeks it is kind of hard not to be enthusiastic. I am too tired to make a list but it seems like the momentum is definitely in our favor. If O'Donnell wins tomorrow I dont think the media is going to have a choice but to acknowledge all the good news for democrats. Seriously everyone seems to be doing better.

We realize that more progress needs to be made, but we know our immediate concern is to stop THE CRAZY from taking over this country.
