Young Obama statue to be inaugurated in his Indonesian former neighborhood
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-12/08/content_12610755.htm

JAKARTA, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- A statue depicting young figure of the United States President Barrack Obama would be inaugurated in Obama's former neighborhood in Indonesia's capital city of Jakarta, the group called "Friends of Obama" said on Tuesday.

The construction of the statue was initiated by "Friends of Obama", a non-government organization. The statue is erected at a corner of a playground at Menteng Dalam, a suburb area in Jakarta.
...

Obama is scheduled to visit Jakarta sometime next year.
(!!!!!!!!!!!)

Cue wingnut birther heads exploding in Politico's comments.

and among those bileful comments, comes this truthful gem, which I had to share:

Not in response to Ben's post, but to the comments section: One thing I'm strangely pleased about as a biproduct of the Obama presidency is that the hateful, ignorant, xenophobic, theo-fascist underbelly of our country, concentrated in the American south but existing everywhere, is finally coming out of the woodwork, exposing themselves to the rest of the country and the world for the lunatics they are. They say that if you want to neutralize your enemy, get them where you can see them. Well, crazies, we can see you now. Keep spewing your hateful bile. I shouldn't have to say it, but to be clear, opposing Obama's policy or his presidency in general does not make you a wingnut. Doing so with a deep, guttural loathing, embracing conspiracy theories and nakedly engaging in treasonous, hateful rhetoric, however, DOES.

5. I'm sure they are very proud of their country's role in his life. I remember
the video from his old neighborhood on election night, they were in the streets cheering.

7. I was just reading in Plouffe's book...
.... or listening rather, to the audio book .... where he talks about how another candidate during the primary (who shall remain nameless ha ha) quoted the President's kindergarten teacher who said he wrote as a five year old that he wanted to be President one day.

There will be a few more statues by the time he's done I'd imagine.
