Will the threat of fascism motivate the Democrats?
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 08:35 PM by Onlooker
With the Tea Party candidates leading in Delaware and New Hampshire, there is a real threat to the United States-as-we-know-it. The Tea Partiers are largely driven by people who do not understand that the federal government is the only one that has protected the rights of minorities in most states and that the Tea Party's objectives would result in a weak federal government and a powerful military, a recipe for fascism.

The fact is not only would the Tea Partiers regulate mosques, gay rights, women's rights, the rights of minorities, and the "liberal" media, they would promote nationalism and libertarian values that champion corporate power. When you consider that Rand Paul still leads in Kentucky, even though he believes that private business should be allowed to discriminate, it's clear that the American people are pretty scary right now, and are capable of putting dangerous people in office. If Democratic apathy should allow the Tea Partiers to get more control, we could be in for a dark ages that would make the age of Reagan seem benign.

6. I know I am waking from my sleep
and realizing that the President I voted for appointed an unelected commission to weaken Social Security. Yeah, I'm hella motivated.
