1. It's much more fun to complain that actually to get what we want. |
|
Hell, I miss complaining already!

3. Can't vote again because an ad blocks the voting button: but hurrah! |

Obama is slipping it through despite Senate objections -- and Warren can begin her hopefully awesome work.

4. Elizabeth Warren, the progressive heroine, is now the goat because |
|
she accepted a meaningless position with no power. Right. Like she'd have quit her job teaching at Harvard to take a figurehead position. We loved her so much that we had to have her as head of the agency, and now that Obama has done a clever end-run around the Republican obstructionists and that tool Dodd by giving her an advisor job that doesn't require any Senate confirmation, ever, but gives her the ability to build the agency from scratch, now she's a corporatist sellout? Under the bus with you, Elizabeth!

Yet again a smart and opinionated woman suddenly has lost her wits just because of an Obama association.
:eyes: indeed.

Financial Protection Bureau. It's her baby. The way I understand it, she Will be responsible directly to the president, and also to the Treasury Dep't. Now, how Geithner and Summers will react to her future proposals, could be a very different story. I presume they'll be at opposite ends much of the time, and Obama would have to be the one to make the final decision.
This could show whether Obama is for the consumers or for Wall Street. Or will he be able to find some position in-between? This latter is more like it. He usually tries to satisfy eveybody -- and might end up satisfying nobody.
There is another possibility: With the elections coming up, both in November and his own in 2012, and maybe his finally having seen that the Neocons are out to destroy him and his administration no matter what he does, Obama might want to be on the side where he sees most of the votes will be.
