I'm MAD AS HELL!
In Kendrick Meek we have a proven, progressive democrat. The progressives has shown bill halter (moderate) more love in a red state than Meek (progressive) in a swing state.
I saw this bullsh*t a mile away with progressives stating before the primaries that crist should switch parties in February.
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/2/22/839586/-FL-Sen:-Precursor-to-a-switch

These are the same people who yell at the POTUS for being a pragmatist and knowing the numbers. They say stand for something even if it fails. Some have even threaten to not vote to give the POTUS a lesson. But when it comes to Kendrick Meek they want to flip the dayum script. Why is that?

The so-call progressives never backed Meek, but they would rather send a rethug/indie dressed up like a blue dog to the senate? This rethug/indie refuses to say till this day, with lowering poll numbers, who he will caucus. He dodges that question by stating he caucus for the people of Florida. What are they going to say when/if that dog vote with rethug on all the important issues? Oh I know, they will just blame President Obama and harry reid for being weak.

To hell with all of'em for writing this bs:

For those of you who give a dayum here is some information about Kendrick Meek:

Thank God, I'm a LIBERAL!

1. I think Crist has already said he will caucus with the Democrats
I think Meek's problem is he has some thing questionable he is being investigated for and people are afraid to support him in case he is arrested.

3. Not true for Crist saying he will caucus with the Democrats.
A lot of people said so, but Crist did not. He refused to say with whom he would caucus.

As for Meek, any link that he is being investigated, because this is the first time I see that.

6. progressive bullcrap
to explain why they will and have not supported Meek.
Here you go:
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2010/08/charlie_cris_a_puzzle_wrapped.html
Here is the money quote:
"Olympia Snowe is arguably the most independent Republican in the Senate -- and she's stuck with her party on 67.3 percent of votes in this Congress. That is to say, if you knew nothing about Snowe save that she was a Republican, you could predict her vote about 70 percent of the time."
http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?docID=news-000003727096
More money quotes"
"Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (I) on Sunday again declined to reveal which political party he would caucus with if he wins the state’s three-way Senate race this November, while also clarifying his position on the new health care overhaul and his opposition to same-sex marriage."

Oh and about the investigation? His opponent, the yacht guy, was the one to bring it up to defame kendrick's mother. He tried to make a guilty by association connection.

13. Wrong
The St. Pete Times was running stories on Meek and his mother before Green ever got in the race.

2. This is our version of Tea Party "idealism"? Principles or bust, even if a very conservative
republican wins as a result? Thanks but no thanks. We do live in a real, not ideal, world. Meek has NO chance. Crist does if it's just two of them. Crist is better than Rubio, and there are NO other alternatives. As far as I am concerned, a no-brainer, if there ever was one. He would actually be more liberal than Ben Nelson.

18. The ones that aren't strictly Fascist
are theocrats. That's who they'd fear less than the likes of Kendrick Meek. That's is sad.

7. What about before crist become an indie?
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 08:06 PM by angee_is_mad
From DAY ONE, progressives did not back Meek. When crist numbers started to fall, progressives got on their knees with their behinds in the air and begged crist, "please, baby, baby please!"

14. I completely agree with you. Now it's a no brainer to go wit Crist.
But the Progressives on DU, in the media and elsewhere were not pushing Meeks' name around enough 3 months ago so that by now he might and/or could very well had been a viable candidate. It's a weak argument to say common sense now, when nothing (as in a fight) was really given in the first place. It's like the Alamo in some ways, instead fighting the last stance, we sort of gave up long before there was a fight because we decided it's over.

23. Pragmatic progressives arevery low in number.
To me, for the people advocating for Halter over Meeks, is not pragmatic. These are people who at times supports vendettas. To me we'd never win in Arizona (no matter who won)...While I think Florida we had a chance until it was squandered away.

Someone should drop out. They intentionally put Crist's name at the bottom of the ballot.

16. Hey, I'm a Progressive and I have been complaining about
the craven support of Crist by people on DU, and have told several of then exactly that. Those who support Crist here on DU sure are not Progressives, more like the 'moderate centrist' crowd. I'm way out West, but here, the Crist support is from everybody but Progressives. Personally to me Crist is a Republican, and those who vote for Republicans ARE Republicans.
I think every last person who has or is promoting Crist on this site should be sent packing, personally. To me, they are what is called 'scabs' in the Union movement.

That's the reality of Florida politics. You cant change that in 6 weeks. Crist is our only hope of stopping Rubio.

We did nothing for Meeks so he could have built up a movement. Instead we dropped him for nonsense.

25. guess Florida will never vote 4 the black guy?
As far as changing in the next six weeks, hell Meek has been running longer than six weeks. Where were the progressives then? If I saw visible and consistent support for his campaign in the beginning, I will have no problem (well NOT as much) with progressives backing crist.

This support of crist isn't a GOOD LOOK and I'm sure that a part of Florida's LOYAL base is taking note of this treatment.

When will progressives learn?

Meek got a big boost by winning the Dem primary and Rubio has kept his nose clean. Who knows now what will happen but Crist can still win it.
