New Poll: IL Senate: Kirk 39% Giannoulias 36%
This is a seat I think we can win, and I think President Obama could be a big help--in his home state.

We Ask America
9/13/10; 1,379 likely voters, 2.6% margin of error
Mode: Automated phone
(We Ask America release)

Illinois

2010 Senate
39% Kirk (R), 36% Giannoulias (D), 4% Jones (G), 2% Labno (L) (chart)

According to their release more dems are undecided than reps, so Giannoulias has room to grow, obviously.

1. I never would have guessed that Brady could almost walk away with the governor's mansion
But that Giannoulias would keep the Senate race competitive.

It really is a shame that Blago has made Quinn so toxic, he is a good man.

3. Nate Silver estimates Brady has a 90% chance of victory.

It looks pretty bad. Quinn's numbers are in the garbage.

6. As someone who grew up in Chicago
I remember Quinn making his bones attacking the Daley Democrats and the 'machine'. Now the machine gets its revenge as they walk away from him.

5. We Ask America has had strange results before (they seem to poll just IL)
here is a swingstate look at their polling. http://www.swingstateproject.com/diary/6672/on-those-we-ask-america-illinois-polls They have been more Republican than Rassmussen. (they had Kirk at +6 on August 4 - link to real clear - so all the numbers can be seen - http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2010/senate/il/illinois_senate_giannoulias_vs_kirk-1092.html

I have always been skeptical of claims that a poll is biased, but that appears to be the case with them.
