Gibbs was right
The sheer quietness in which Elizabeth Warren appointment is being received over the Left blogosphere is really the perfect proof. It would have been so much more fun if the president would fulfill their expectation and "sell out" again.

Pathetic.

8. Two threads?
One of them started by the OP, so I assume s/he knew about it. And the other includes such gems as the following:

So... is this a way to keep her from actually running the agency?

...Give her some horse-shit advisory position and appoint some Wall-Street friendly turd to run the agency. If that's what this is, it would be classic Obama

Yeah. They're just ecstatic. Ecstatic, I tells ya.

Given a failure to research the matter before making it. You charges are baseless.

4. I Thought The Point Was To Bring The Party Together
Constant criticism of one part of the party, who just happens to be the base they need to win elections, is stupidly counterproductive. Gibbs needs to shut up. The party would be better served if he went after the dems who always vote with the Cons.

6. We as posters are not the professional left right or middle.. we do not make bucks off a site
Edited on Fri Sep-17-10 08:17 AM by Peacetrain
Impik if I have this wrong, go ahead and correct me, no hurt feelings. But I think Impik is talking about headline ops in some of these sites.

DU is mostly individuals.. but you get into places. the site managers do a LOT of moving the conversation with their own editorials.

That is the professional money making conversations

edit to add.. of course some people on this site got it completely wrong, and thought EW was going to not get anything, and they got it wrong..using some of those sites I was talking about as proof positive.

9. Ridiculous!!!
First of all there's been plenty of praise for it even though it's NOT really what the left was asking for. Secondly, are we to kiss the feet of the Obama administration every time they do something even half right? Give me a break.

I'm delighted, but still holding my breath because it isn't official yet. I haven't heard it from Obama's mouth yet.

11. It's more profitable for "progressive" pundits to take the short view
instead of look at the big picture. They can't profit from this news and its implications, later they'll take credit in some way.

What does Gibbs want, a fucking parade because they did a good thing?

Which is pretty fucking presumptuous of him.

22. Hey, I'm about as happy as I can get given the lack of support for the left
coming from the Administration...and from Mr. Gibbs.

I certainly will vote Democratic every chance I get, as I always have, but I expected more from this Democratic Administration, and from the last one, rather than a moderate GOP agenda with occasional liberal flourishes. After all, Obama was billed by the right as the most dangerous liberal in the Senate, and, if that is true, this country is in much worse shape than I thought.

This is about as enthused as I can get given the stimulus, Mr. Gibbs-did you expect a fucking parade?

29. This is a funny response.
It's strawman of the very highest order. A textbook example actually.

Gibbs never asked for anything -- I believe the OP was talking about those the were upset about his 'professional left' comments, I suspect you knew that. just as you know that Gibbs is not looking for a parade.

16. The President has not yet appointed her
I understand you have a compelling need to frame all things in a divisive and negative light, but yet again I feel compelled to point out is that what you are asking for is not to the President's advantage. The appointment is his moment, and it should not be upstaged. Once he speaks and there is something to react to, people will react. Right now, the President has not spoken. You have. That is not the same thing.
I'm excited at the prospect of Warren doing anything. I like her work, I like her style, direct and to the point, fearless in not in reality, at least in aspect and approach.
I'll celebrate your announcements when you are the President. Right now, the President is Barack Obama.

20. Why don't you get off the computer and get the Dem vote out in your community?
I know it's really fun to punch hippies on the internet but things aren't looking good for the Democrats right now. Those of you who feel enthusiastic about the progress that has been made by this administration ought to go share it with low efficacy Democrats and independents in your district. If you're in a safe D or R district then find a competitive one near you and help the Dems running for office there. If you have time to post divisive trash like this on DU you have time to do something productive.

23. "Those of you who feel enthusiastic"...meaning that excludes you?
If that's the case, then what do "those of you" who do not share this "enthusiasm" do about GOTV? Just curious. Are the disillusioned exempt from GOTV efforts, like a sick note from the doctor or something?

25. Hmmm?
"I know it's really fun to punch hippies on the internet but things aren't looking good for the Democrats right now. "

As if the malcontents are hippies. Some of them simply haven't gotten over the primaries or have other issues. They're hiding behind

The notion that over-the-top criticism of the President is being driven by hippies is equivalent to the claim that the tea party is being driven by patriots.

There are a lot of liberals who find value in the progressive achievements of this administration.
