West Virginia’s Democratic Governor Joe Manchin still holds 50% support in his bid to be the state’s next U.S. senator.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in West Virginia shows Manchin’s Republican opponent, businessman John Raese, with 43% of the vote when leaners are included. One percent (1%) favor some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

These findings move the race from a Toss-Up to Leans Democratic on the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard. The candidates are running in a special election to fill the seat vacated by the death of longtime Democratic Senator Robert Byrd.

Please note that the dems are favored to win in 49 seats right now. All we need to do is hold WV/CT and win CA/WA to get up to 51 seats if you look at the rankings.
We are ahead in both.

With this new poll, the one hope that the GOP had to win the senate is now all but dashed. We've won the senate!!

Now the Republican party is a lot like Jason from Friday the 13th so I hesitate to write it totally off but right now the senate is very much looking like it will remain in our hands.

5. While 51 is certainly better than 49
it's still not enough to get anything done against the obstructionist Republicans.

8. Changing the filibuster rules will take care of that.
Unless the Dems are going to "keep their powder dry".

7. Yep we need to worry about the House. That is what the Tea Party wants so Nancy can do
nothing.
