WTF! Johnson leads Feingold 51% to 44% in Rasmussen poll although it's still considered a toss-up
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 09:55 AM by zulchzulu
It's a phone poll that perhaps doesn't include mobile phones, which could be promising for Russ.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Johnson picking up 51% support, while Feingold earns the vote from 44%. One percent (1%) of voters prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) remain undecided.

The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Wisconsin was conducted on September 15, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.

In other Wisconsin polls on the Governor's race, similar results are indicated.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Wisconsin, including leaners, finds Walker earning 51% support. His Democratic opponent, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, picks up 43% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

On the poll's methodology, they use land lines and the data is verified this way:

All Rasmussen Reports' survey questions are digitally recorded and fed to a calling program that determines question order, branching options, and other factors. Calls are placed to randomly-selected phone numbers through a process that insures appropriate geographic representation. Typically, calls are placed from 5 pm to 9 pm local time during the week. Saturday calls are made from 11 am to 6 pm local time and Sunday calls from 1 pm to 9 pm local time.

After the calls are completed, the raw data is processed through a weighting program to insure that the sample reflects the overall population in terms of age, race, gender, political party, and other factors. The processing step is required because different segments of the population answer the phone in different ways. For example, women answer the phone more than men, older people are home more and answer more than younger people, and rural residents typically answer the phone more frequently than urban residents.

So... a Rasmussen poll means:

Grandma, who lives in the country and doesn't go outside much, doesn't care for that Jewish fella.

2. Russ is in trouble here in WI
his opponent is on night and day with ads, and hardly see Russ. When he does have an ad it's an old one that has been on the air for weeks and not very effective. I was at a rally at the Barrymore Theatre here in Madison for him a week or so ago, he obviously got a great ovation and he was excellent, but all the speakers before him told the audience that Russ is in trouble and we all have to work hard if he's going to win.

4. The unapologetic Faux News of polling

When caught last year producing shoddy methodology on one poll, Rasmussen claimed it was a minor issue even though it distorted the poll by more than 10 points.

12. Crazy World! I guess the WH will be Happy -- one less Progressive to deal with.
Shame, Finegold is probably the truest progressive...we're a dying breed! The WH i am sure is popping champagn bottles over this news...Makes it easier to sell out to special interests with less progressvies in congress to fight for the people.

14. Politico says Michelle Obama will headline fundraiser for Feingold Oct. 13th
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 03:41 PM by flpoljunkie
The first lady will begin her campaign travel on October 13 in Wisconsin for Sen. Russ Feingold, headlining a fundraising event. On the same day, she will travel to her home state of Illinois on behalf of Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias and Representatives Debbie Halvorson — who publicly asked for a FLOTUS appearance — and Bill Foster along with House candidate Dan Seals, all of whom are all in tough election battles.

The following day, Obama will travel to Denver, where she’ll appear at a fundraising event for Sen. Michael Bennet.

Her travel on the stump resumes Oct. 18, when she’ll travel to New York for a fundraising dinner for the Democratic National Committee Women’s Leadership Forum. The following week, on Oct. 25, the first lady will head to Seattle and San Francisco to appear at fundraising events for Sen. Patty Murray and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, respectively.

On Oct. 26, Obama will hit another fundraising dinner for the DNC’s Women’s Leadership Forum in Los Angeles before appearing at an event on Oct. 27 for Sen. Barbara Boxer.
