Christine O'Donnell is toxic and hurting GOP

Christine O'Donnell's victory provides the clearest sign yet that the Tea Party is damaging GOP prospects, as opposed to acting merely as an energizing and rebranding force, and a new Fox poll in Delaware shows this as clearly as you could want.

The poll's topline is that Dem Chris Coons is beating O'Donnell by a lopsided margin, 54-39, among likely voters. But the internals are even more interesting. They show that a big majority of Delaware voters says she's not qualified to be Senator:

***** Regardless of how you plan to vote, do you think Christine O'Donnell is qualified to be a U.S. Senator?

33% Yes

60% No

And far more say their vote will be motivated by opposition to the Tea Party movement:

*****Which of the following best describes how the Tea Party movement will affect your vote for SENATE this year?

26% Your vote will be to express support for the Tea Party movement

41% Your vote will be to express opposition to the Tea Party movement

30% Tea Party movement will not be a factor in your vote

3% Not sure

1. I also get the feeling that O'Donnell is the accidental candidate b/c so many
registered republicans didn't vote in the primary and she wouldn't have been their choice.

2. Republicans are clueless...
Thankfully for us, republicans are politically clueless. If they had half a brain, they'd stop whining, support her 100%, pray she wins, and primary her...the next go round. Instead, they'll bite off their own noses to spite their faces, and maybe democrats will get a win.

3. Sure. Let the crazies have their day.
If somebody as off the wall as O'Donnell had a (D) after her name, there would be no way in *hell* I'd send her to DC to represent me. Republicans aren't cluelesss (note the correct spelling here -- it's intentional) teabaggers are loony. That's just the plain simple truth.

4. She's not hurting them enough and I'm tired of these posts that are marginalizing her.
She's still a significant player and most of the clowns like her have a chance. Let's not forget that.

5. Depends witch way you look at it...
She has stroked the members of the tea party into a frenzy, creating havoc for more competitive republicans. Democrats can only be thankful for the hand she is giving them in casting a spell on right wing supporters everywhere. She is the gift that keeps on giving.

10. Has she (O'Donnell) ever had a real job other than
her wingnut made up organizations? I can't figure out what qualified her to be a frequent guest on Bill Maher's show . I never watched the show back then, but I've never heard of her until now.

That is why Harry Reid has a chance.
