Why losing the House would be good for Obama

Republicans have had it easy for the last two years, but they'd look a lot different if they actually had power

At a forum on Monday, President Obama was asked if he'd be open to sharing the stage with John Boehner the way President Clinton and then-Speaker Newt Gingrich did at a town hall session back in 1995.

"I think it's premature to say that John Boehner's going to be speaker of the House," Obama replied.

Maybe it is. But it's an outcome Obama should be hoping for. Sure, a GOP House could mean endless investigations and subpoenas, but it would also give the president a better chance at winning a second term in 2012.

Most observers agree that Obama's reelection will depend on the movement of the economy over the next two years. If it roars back, Obama will benefit politically, even if the improvement is not directly traceable to his policies. And if it continues to stagnate or worsens, he’ll be another Jimmy Carter. Fair or unfair, captaincy of the government gives a party ownership of the economy, particularly during recessions. Just ask the Republicans of 1982.

What a stupid talking point.

3. 30 + years of being told helping others bad greed good then on top of that framing taxes as an evil
un-american government activity that keeps the guy digging out house holes for a living from being one of the top 2%. Just like anyone with 1/2 a working brain cell knew 401 K's was a very bad way for workers to plan for retirement for the main fact that it allowed these same workers to dip into the account any time they pleased, so when the worker fell on hard times he would raid his retirement account, of course that meant he took a loss plus he had to pay taxes on the money he took out, which was why FDR set social security so the worker couldn't get his hands on the money he put in until the worker either retired or something happened to the worker that prevented him from working.

FDR did not under estimate the stupidity of the common man unlike our public servants today who count on and take advantage of the common mans stupidity, he knew that if you hold a shiny object up in front of them they would follow whoever was holding that shiny thing. Come on look around you, Palin isn't popular for what she says, she's popular because 90% of her followers think shes a MILF. Look at the rights people they are running, last president they liked was a failed business man, this years R candidates are either more failed business people or grifters who have been milking the system all of their lives, yet the nit wits adore them for their stupidity.
