Repub PA Gov Cand Sues Over Health Care Yet Touts in his Paper
Is state Attorney General Tom Corbett, the Republican nominee for governor, inconsistent in his approach to the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act? Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, the Democratic nominee who trails Corbett in the polls, sure thinks so. Onorato's camp pointed today to this section of Corbett's campaign policy paper, released this week.

"The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) offers great opportunity to extend coverage to thousands more people throughout Pennsylvania, but that goal can be thwarted if it is not implemented properly by state government. Should the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) survive the current legal challenge of Attorneys General from across the country, as Governor, Tom Corbett will focus on implementing the provisions granting greater access to coverage in a way that encourages the development of new products and brings new carriers into the marketplace while mitigating the cost impact of the Federal law as we wait for the affordability provisions to take effect."

Corbett's paper doesn't mention that he is one of the attorneys general who sued to overturn the health care act. Onorato's campaign cried foul today, noting that Corbett has used that lawsuit in campaign fund-raising efforts, as we reported in March.
