Grayson Jumps Out to 13-Point Lead
Alan Grayson's internal polling shows him up big in the FL District 8 race...

ORLANDO, FL - In the first post-primary poll conducted in FL-8, Congressman Alan Grayson enjoys a 13-point lead. The results are:

Alan Grayson 40%
Daniel Webster 27%
Others 23%
Undecided 11%<1>

Perhaps the most surprising result is the strong support enjoyed by third-party candidates. Apart from Grayson, the Democrat, and Webster, the Republican, three other candidates have met Florida’s ballot qualification requirements for the November election. The others are drawing a remarkable 32% of the Republican vote, and 30% of the Independent vote (but only 9% of the Democratic vote).

50. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, ...
But it did say that this was Grayson's own Internal Poll.

I'm glad it shows he's ahead, but I would feel a lot better if the poll was
conducted by some independent source, and Grayson still held a 13% pt. lead.

7. Gawd I hope that's close to the case.
I'm sure he probably doesn't have quite that big a lead, seeing as this is internal polling, but even a 5 percent lead would be great.

who complains about alleged effect on 'small businesses' of tax cut expiring? I think I will, give them some edumacation. (and explain effect of 'obamacare,' that children can now be covered!)

She wrote: 'Surely the Independents and Democrats are not going to vote this idiot back in power. He is a Progressive who wants to ram Obamacare down our throats, raise taxes, let the Bush Tax Cuts expire.
If the Bush Tax Cuts expire it is going to hurt small businesses really bad. A lot of them will have to close their doors, let their employees go, because between taxes and Obamacare, if we do not get it appealed there will be no way a lot of small businesses can survive. He is a lying, insulting maniac and I still do not know why anyone ever voted for him in the first place. I would rather have no one representing me as to have this loud mouth insulting you know what!'

I wrote, 'Elaine appears to misunderstand the effect of expiration of Bush Tax Cuts. So-called 'small businesses' are not what we usually think of as really small businesses like those we see along main streets. A number of companies with multi-billion dollar revenues have been registered as small businesses for tax purposes. It’s not the income that’s small, it’s not the number of employees that’s small, it’s just the total number of owners that’s small. In the case of S corporations, the total number of owners can be 100. Incidentally, fewer than 750,000 people, less than 0.25 percent of the country, would be affected by the top rate.

As to 'Obamacare,' my daughter may now remain covered by her father's medical insurance; she is 22, and needs medical attention. This is a real benefit to my family.'

But it didn't bother JtheP that his income was actually being transferred to the elite
in this country.

What an idiot.

55. My comment was accepted, and 2 below indicate some thoughtfulness down there!
'Grayson knows what needs to be done to fix the U.S. after having been decimated by 30 years of “Reaganomics”. NEWS FLASH: Trickle-Down Economics does NOT work. Deregulation, tax cuts for corporations and the rich have resulted in the greatest wealth gap since 1929 and the GOP wants to give us more of the same?

What’s the definition of insanity? Republican.'

'It is no surprise that Grayson is doing so well. While some put him down for his style, people in the 8th District really do see that he is working for the majority of their interests and doing so effectively. Most independents and some Republicans understand this and will vote for him.'

A true champion of the average person, Grayson stands against those who would continue the failed policies of trickle down economics and who believe only the well heeled should have health care. Alan Grayson knows the way to build an economy that works for everyone is from the bottom up.

I think we all DU'd that pretty well! :)

34. This says less about other Democrats than it does about the integrity of Grayson

Like Paul Wellstone, he is a clear and unapologetic liberal who speaks his mind.

If all Democrats wore without compromise the mantle of liberal populist, we wouldn't be wondering about the outcome of this fall's elections.

53. Not even just liberal
I've been saying that Grayson is going to be an example of what I think is important with INDEPENDENTS. Staking a position, and holding to it, impresses independents. I'm not saying that you can't lose anyway, but the truth is, they are far more impressed with someone who is consistent, than someone who constantly tries to figure out what they want to hear. This is mostly because many independents (well "moderates" really) don't hold strong opinions, they just want to know what they are getting when they vote for someone.

Grayson's message plays well around here because he is consistent, and brash about it. I suspect Grayson could be a moderate conservative and do just as well.

36. The Polls are tightening
It always happens this way, just because the Lunatic Right is loud and has enjoyed the media bonanza of the scripted narrative of "Anti-incumbent sentiment," doesn't mean they have a chance. I work for Gallup and there have been some interesting trends occuring in the last few weeks. They are actually positive for the Left.
