Do all post offices have to put up president's photo?
We live in a small town in rural WA state and my husband waited today until he was alone and the total right wing guy who works there wasn't there and asked this girl where Obama's pic was. She said it is not up because he, pointing where the guy usually is would have a heart attack. My husband then proceeded to say I guess I should wear my Bush is a war criminal tv shirt next time I come in to which she said, then he would jump over the counter and kill you and look at me and say, what have I done???

It took over a year for the larger city near me totally red to get his pic up but nothing in my small town of 4,000. What is the law about it? I tried to search online and found nothing.

Does anyone know???

8. I never think of Leavenworth as being east of the Mountains for some reason,

like I do Ellensberg, Wenatchee, etc. -- I don't know why. Maybe because it's so cute? Is there a big conservative population in Leavenworth?

I hope somebody can answer your question and you can report that guy. Or, maybe you could write a letter to the Post Office Boss and request a photo of our President to be displayed?

Come on over to Seattle!

10. I come to visit seattle often
i have family there but we semi retired here and i love the mountains. Leavenworth is not as bad as wenatchee, believe me I door to door canvassed last election in wenatchee, its scarey!!! My town is 60/40 with 60% right wing. It is a pretty religious town also even most of the left goes also. I am one of the few that doesn't...

Wenatchee is more like 80% to the right...

2. When I went to the courthouse to file bankruptcy
I saw Obama smiling face on the wall. It really made me smile and it made me feel good to see his photo. I hope it's there way past 2012. No matter how disappointed I may be in certain things I love our First Family. They're pioneers in so many ways.

6. My rep is Hastings
and a total Bushie, he would laugh at anything I asked. I wrote him once before and he wrote me back and said most of my constituents believe how I do...so basically tough luck lady!

4. There was a delay in getting the offical photos distributed but all federal
facillities should mount the President's picture.

(Visiting a small USDA office in rural CA last month I noticed that the office had put up a "Happy Birthday" sign above the President's photo. After I finished my business I told them that I liked what they had done with the picture. They laughed and said "well that's one". They deal with a lot of red neck farmers and had used the occasion of a staff's birthday to make the addition. I had to admire their pluck.)

If you don't mind local friction I would tell the Post Master that if its not up in a week that you will make a complaint. If you prefer not to be known locally you can make a complaint to the Postal Inspector, they will not be amused.

7. Maybe I should for fun
since its small town I would have to do it in secret. They basically told my husband that one of the employees would refuse to have it up. I just wondered if it was law for larger offices and not for smaller ones since ours is small.

14. Unless it's a "Contract Post Office", it's a federal Post Office REGARDLESS of size.
I doubt if it's specifically written into law, but it's been universal practice for as long as I can recall {Born in 1930). Contact either or both Senators, and also the higher ups in the USPS. Directly by phone should do the trick.

My personal experiences with the`Teabag type is that a small number are fearless fire-breathers, and will NOT back down. But the rest? Bloviating blowhards, with shit for blood. The first official notice from "higher up", will have them all atremble.`

12. It's the worst photo of him EVER.....
... and it's better not seen. ;)

We all have our issues ... some will never forgive for the lack of public option .... some will never forgive his not prosecuting Cheney et al .... mine is the photo. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT ... huge. Look for him to add to his stump speech "some Democrats are upset that they didn't get all they wanted ... and so they throw up their hands in despair .... and Clio hates my official portrait."

13. I'm unsure. I work for the federal government, and every agency has Obama, Biden, and the Secretary
on the wall. The Post Office is a strange bird. It's quasi-government, but it doesn't have to be the case. it's like the Federal Reserve. Employees get most benefits as if they were part and parcel the federal government, but their are really quasi. It's also like Amtrak of GSEs, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. They are quasi-government.

The post office is a tricky creature.
