4. oh, this country has a long history of successful political scams

"remember the maine" comes to mind. while the exact cause of the sinking of the maine remain unclear (it could easily have been an accident or even a deliberate american sinking as a pretext for war), what is clear is that we hardly had anything like the evidence properly needed to go to war against spain over it.

but that hardly stopped the yellow journalists from slamming us headlong into the spanish-american war.


still, i'm glad to see the tea party characterized as a political scam, which it clearly is.
it's essentially the biggest "astroturf" organization to date.
