Nora O'Donnell (MSNBC) DESTROYED Rep. Thornberry on "Pledge to America" |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 01:00 PM by jenmito
She had this Repub. on who was at the "Pledge to America" unveiling today and asked him, point for point, which parts of "Obamacare" they would repeal (the platform says they'll "repeal and replace 'Obamacare'"), She listed some of the parts of the new healthcare law that go into effect today, asking him "just yes or no" whether he wants those parts repealed.
She asked him if he wants to get rid of the part that covers pre-existing conditions for children. He said he likes that part but he (they) would repeal the WHOLE thing. She said, "So that's a yes," and then she asked if he wants to get rid of the part that allows children to be on their parents' insurance up to age 26 and he said he likes THAT part, too, especially because he has children in college now, and she said, "So that's a no?" He said, paraphrasing, "You're not listening to me. We want to repeal the whole thing and then replace it.
She trapped him over and over by listing things that go into effect today which would go away if they repealed it. He had NO answers for her other than to say that this is not a detailed plan, but a pledge of carrying out what "the people" want. It was great to watch.

27. So-called 'reporters' apologizing for doing their job? WTF? |
|
They are supposed to be public watchdogs. Supposed to ask tough questions.
This is the crap you get when republicons own the media, as they do...reporters timid about getting up off their knees.
The Rep. is the one who owes America an apology for backing a 'pledge' he cannot in any way defend.

And anything that they were to pass as part of the Replace part would just be a meaningless bandaid that wouldn't actually help anyone.

Of course they could say they will take the WH back in 2012 and then they would repeal. Even though Pres. Obama's ratings are down,I don't feel the Democratic base could stomach taking a chance of him losing. There will be a large turnout again and he will win. So they are just saying anything and everything to keep people in fear of losing everything that is dear to them. It's all to "energize" the base and get them to the polls to vote this fall.

For profit private insurers (FPPI) win 40 million additional paying customers, courtesy of middle class workers who will pay higher premiums and higher taxes.
There is not a single restraint on premium hikes by FPPI in the bill. The FPPI's are free to increase your premiums as high as necessary until their profit goals are met. Annual rate hikes as high as 34% are already showing up in this year with majority to reset higher on January 1st 2011. Note that the average premium increase has been under 9% per year over last 10 years.
No competition to FPPI from public option to keep rate hikes under control. This was the only effective means of restricting run away rate hikes.
Competition to FPPI from across the state lines by other FPPI's is missing in bill. So each state has it's FPPI operating as a monopoly without outside competition.
Nothing in the HCR bill to restrain frivolous malpractice suits which end up costing all consumers of health care more.
No wonder democrats all over the country running for election are running away from it and I can't blame them one bit. I have not seen any democratic political ads from candidates running in 2010, touting the HCR bill.
However I am happy Nora made minced meat of the repub.

They like parts of the bill, but they can't repeal it because if they ever somehow got a repeal through both houses of Congress the President would smack it down without a second thought.
They could defund it if they got a majority, but this is looking increasingly unlikely.

41. Well, of course Republicans should actually like the HCR bill. |
|
They only bitch about it because their opponents passed it. And when pressured, they have to admit they like it. That's because in reality, it's just a re-hash of Nixon's plan back in 1974.
It's not surprising that a Republican would like a Republican bill. The bigger question is why Democrats decided this Republican bill was a good thing and signed onto it.

That is how we got in this mess to begin with.
Oh and as for arrogant..I ran campaigns of democrats that spend endless days and weeks and months emailing Nora Whora everytime she lied about the war of lies..she would send back emails ..laughing WITH THE WORDS.."haaha"..or with the simple word.. "YAWN"......
THE WAR CRIMINALS COULD NOT HAVE A BETTER OR MORE COMPLICIT CHEERLEADER! Or partner in fellatio!

She DID destroy that RWer yesterday and that she gets credit for. I have a very long memory, too. She was a cheerleading anchor for the war and that was wrong. She wasn't a "murderer." She was a cheerleader.
And re: "arrogant," I meant "ignorant" since that's what you called me. You never called me "arrogant." I typed the wrong word. Replace "arrogant" for "ignorant" and I stand by the rest.
