Republican "Pledge" = Major FAIL
...These 21 pages tell you lots of things, some contradictory things, but mostly this: it is a series of compromises and milquetoast rhetorical flourishes in search of unanimity among House Republicans...

...The entirety of this Promise is laughable. Why? It is an illusion that fixates on stuff the GOP already should be doing while not daring to touch on stuff that will have any meaningful longterm effects on the size and scope of the federal government.

This document proves the GOP is more focused on the acquisition of power than the advocacy of long term sound public policy.

Ouch!

That's Redstate.com (via Daily Kos)

1. Randi Rhodes just said this "Lemony Fresh Pledge"...
Was written by a former AIG lobbyist who has also lobbied for big oil and big pharma.

Shocking, I know. Oh, the guy was also one of Dick Cheney's advisers.

Different theatre, same players, same act.

14. Brian Wild is the lobbyist's name,
according to HuffPo.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/22/pledge-for-america-brian-wild-lobbyist_n_735911.html

"The Republican Party's 21-page blueprint, "Pledge to America," was put together with oversight by a House staffer who, up till April 2010, served as a lobbyist for some of the nation's most powerful oil, pharmaceutical, and insurance companies."

3. It's the Republicon SLEDGE against ordinary Americans
They pledge to take a sledge hammer to anything that benefits ordinary Americans, so they can add velvet lining to the cozy arrangments for therr fatcat republicon cronies.

I'd bet a sack of doughnuts that -- despite the onslaught of RepubliCorporate media propaganda pimps -- the American people will see this as the Republicon Heap of Shit it is.

9. I was just thinking it would be awesome if we got the CBO to 'score' their pledge to get that result
A democrat should submit all the policies that are solidly outlined (and not just vague like 'cut spending') to show how fiscally irresponsible the GOP is.

it is exactly the same thing they were offering in 1994, 1998, 2000, 2004, etc...

In otherwords, same ol' same ol' shit that took us to where we are today.
