Think Progress: Desperate For Support, Republicans Tout Colbert’s Fake Endorsement Of ‘Pledge To America’

<...>

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) was so happy someone announced support of the GOP’s “Pledge” that he promoted Colbert’s (fake) endorsement on twitter:

Either Republicans still don’t know that Colbert’s “I love the GOP” shtick is all an act or perhaps they don’t care as long as someone of any stature offers support for their “Pledge” scheme.

This is so pathetic, I'm embarrassed for him.

On second thought,

3. God they're dumb. Steve King is starting to clue in though.
He claims Colbert's wingnut persona is "just a put-on." No way!!

4. My first thought was that his teabaggerati base would react like this
Conyers is probably getting some angry emails from them!

5. Reminds me of one of my dad's stories about Archie Bunker.
One of his coworkers loved watching All In The Family - he was a wingnut, proclaimed that Archie Bunker spoke to him, and that he was a true American, not like that idiot Meathead.

A few weeks later, he was watching the show and burst out "HEY! I think they're making fun of him!"

@DarrellIssa Not too smart, are you, Car Thief? Colbert is a comedian, he was joking.
