What would seal this deal fo me: Meet the insurance needs of Union pensioners |
|
Its a win win in my book. Heavy indusrty is terribly burdened by Health care cost of pensioners, That is the deal they struck and while I think there is an obligation ther....It is honestly really hurting the manufacturing competitiveness of the country, At some levels it is a pretty hard sell to pensioners on limited income because the coverage will be less...but still People like Medicare and their is no guarantee that those companies offering insurance would be able to do so indefinitely.
Maybe create a Cadillac level of Medicare coverage that would lower the cost to corporations who buy in
Have not thought it all the way through. but there is something ther that would help the manufacturing base and Union retirees.

2. The key to competitiveness is an even playing field. |

When all players in an industry don't provide medical coverage, pension, and other benefits then everyone suffers. Those without those covered benefits suffer the most. Even the employers that don't offer the benefits, customers that buy their products, taxpayers in the communities of the employer, and even those that have no tangible connection with the employer or the employees.
