Edited on Tue Sep-28-10 10:58 AM by jenmito
50%! And his disapproval at 49%: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/obama_approval_index_history This pollster has had Obama at a higher approval rating than Gallup MANY times lately, including now, with Gallup having his approval at 44% and hid disapproval at 49%: http://www.gallup.com/Home.aspxWhat's up with that?

1. We are close to an election, so Ras is using his more honest polling models. |
|
He will now be the most reliable pollster from now till the election is over.

8. Wrong. Ras is extremely reliable around an election. His results are very close to the the reality. |
|
But the numbers change drastically between the times near an election versus the times not near an election. He adjusts his sampling model near an election to be more honest so that he can maintain a shred of credibility during the other times of the year that he is trying to fuck with perception.

5. Ras asks a different question. |
|
Or rather, gives more possible responses.
Adding up his "strongly approve" and "somewhat approve" columns isn't the same thing as the standard "approve/disapprove" binary poll.

6. I know, but he DOES combine the "generally approve" with the "generally disapprove" |
|
which is why there are different columns with different numbers.

11. And it's perfectly fine to combine them... |

... just don't mistake that figure for the same thing as the results of an approve/disapprove poll, and then compare the two. You get different responses from people when they are given something closer to a Likert scale than a Y/N selection. There could, for instance, easily be people who would answer "somewhat approve" on one poll... but "disapprove" if only given two choices.
Ras' poll is designed to feed his "presidential approval index" (a comparison between "SA" and "SD"). it's fine to point out that this poll has shown some improvement over the last couple weeks, but not to compare it directly to polls with a different design.

His numbers will start around this time being more credable.RAS likes to claim It Is most accurate. For much of the eyar Is a Republican pollster and then acts as a more credable pollster. However don't forget RAS back In 2008 has Mccain gaining In PA closer to the election.

14. Yes I am in the process of doing that |
|
But it's hard with so many people rushing to their DU screens to copy and paste every shiny new poll that comes out.
Unfortunately, my ignore list is growing because of these so called poll pimps.
