R's with help of Baucus, Lieberman, Nelson, Warner stood with corporations' outsourcing jobs
Edited on Tue Sep-28-10 11:42 AM by flpoljunkie
The bill failed to move forward. The cloture vote was 53 ayes and 45 nos. Sixty votes were required to proceed to the bill--S.3826, the Creating American Jobs and Ending Offshoring Act.

'The bill would have levied tax increases on U.S. companies that close domestic plants and open new ones overseas. The legislation would have also given companies that import jobs to the U.S. new tax breaks.'

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/28/AR2010092800429.html

How can Democrats make this an issue when they cannot keep their own members together to proceed to the bill? It is pathetic.

1. We need a Majority leader who is tougher than Reid.
Durbin for example.

3. What we need are more 'Democrats from the Democratic wing' of the party.
Republicans march in lockstop for their corporate patrons. Democrats are not sure who they represent first--at least some of them.

5. Only in America is "53 ayes" not a majority.
We had enough Democrats for a majority vote. The United States Senate is dysfunctional.

7. Yes, it is dysfunctional. Will the Dems have the guts to fix it in January if they retain majority?
That's the question.
