The White House says President Barack Obama has spoken with Jimmy Carter following the ex-president's hospitalization in Cleveland.

White House spokesman Bill Burton says Obama called Carter from Air Force One as he traveled from New Mexico to Wisconsin. Burton says Carter is feeling great and plans to resume his book tour on Wednesday.

The Carter Center said the 85-year-old former president fell ill on a flight from Atlanta to Cleveland and was taken to a Cleveland hospital. A hospital spokeswoman says Carter is still in the hospital.
