40. Tell it to the people
still shackled in Guantanamo, Bagram and who knows where else. Tell it to the families of innocent civilians killed by Obama's drones in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Tell it to the peace activists whose homes were just raided by the FBI as if they were an Al Qaeda sleeper cell.

If spitting in the face of the very people who elected you is magic, then yes, there's plenty of that.

Here's some of that magic in action, Obama speaking to have-mores at a 30,000 a plate fundraiser:

"Democrats, just congenitally, tend to get -- to see the glass as half empty. (Laughter.) If we get an historic health care bill passed -- oh, well, the public option wasn't there. If you get the financial reform bill passed -- then, well, I don't know about this particular derivatives rule, I'm not sure that I'm satisfied with that. And gosh, we haven't yet brought about world peace and -- (laughter.) I thought that was going to happen quicker. (Laughter.) You know who you are. (Laughter.) We have had the most productive, progressive legislative session in at least a generation."

Rachel and Sam Stein just had a nice segment where they concluded the White House may have finally realized they had nothing to gain from 'hippie punching' and will get more mileage out of being more motivational.

It's a nice change in tone and one I welcome.

And, of course, I'll be there in November to cast my vote for Harry Reid in the hopes we never see 'Senator Angle.'

These kind of speeches will help motivate voters to get to the polls. I never got to go to any of his rallies in 08. Every time I tried to get in, I and thousands of others were turned away because of the size of the crowds. Hopefully, one day he will return to FL, I'll be sure to get there extremely early. :)

36. All I ever asked was that he would move us into the right direction
I never expected superhuman powers from him or anyone. I know how hard it is the halt kinetic energy and then actually turn it around to go in the opposite direction. Maybe he could have done better, but I saw a hell of a lot of obstruction. More than I've ever seen before. I thought it was bad during the Clinton years, but it's actually far worse now.

As long as he keeps rolling that boulder up hill I'll gladly keep helping him. Even if there are things I'm totally against, like his war and his drone and assassination policy.

82. wow, what an idiotic thing to say.
we were talking about, since you seem to have forgotten, absolutely sticking with obama until the end of time, which you did not see as over the top in any way.

that kind of statement is all about charisma, but you, in your narrow thinking and blind support, missed that.

and there was nothing in my post that could reasonably be pointed to as ignorant.

frankly, i think to any objective observer you just blew your credibility, what little there was after your last post.

83. It doesn't have to be charisma
Could it be just agreement with his views?

I personally find that I'm on the same page as he is a lot of the time. He's someone I agree with. Naturally I'll support him.

It's assholish to insist that wanting him to be President for two terms can be nothing but coming under the spell of some charisma.

84. Wow, what a pissy response to being called out
1) Why would a reasonable person assume the OP automatically meant "until the end of time"? To me, it's more reasonable to assume that the OP meant "until the end of his two terms in office". Of course, it's easier to make fun of someone if you make the wilder assumption.

2) You're overreaching so you have an excuse to snap back with an insult.

3) To a reasonable reader, which includes many respondents on this thread, there is no blown credibility here on my part - only your claim that there is, which is about as flimsy as your assumption that the OP posted in a charisma-induced stupor.

a serious candidate with that qualification emerges. And in fact, the possibility that it might happen might force Obama to move to the left to satisfy his base, and that would be a good thing.

I'm a flaming liberal and think that "sitting on our hands" (using his words) just makes everything worse. Wake up and smell the heaping pile of shit the repukes are trying to pass as their "new" rosey plan! Staying home and not voting cuts off our noses to spite our faces! Get over the fact that Obama hasn't come to your home to personally suck you off! He is doing a good job and the dems deserve our votes if for no other reason than to keep the fundies and repukes out of office!

Edited on Wed Sep-29-10 05:21 PM by handmade34
I passed a vehicle with a bumper sticker that had the Obama Logo on it and asked, "Sorry Yet?" I wanted to scream out to the driver (didn't) and let him know that I am not sorry in the least, in fact, I am damn happy that Barack Obama is our President.

What was the alternative? McCain and Palin? Where would we be then? I do not blame President Obama for the high unemployment rate or the recession.

I am just as disappointed as anyone about not getting a public option. I am just as disappointed as anyone that DADT is still in place... I wish that President Obama had not tried to work with the Republicans because I believe that we would be better off if he hadn't... I wish so much deference wasn't given to corporations... but, I am not sorry that I gave money and worked and helped elect Barack Obama as our President.

I want to keep the Democrats in charge of the House and Senate, even though they are not working as hard as I want. I want to work with other concerned citizens and community members to keep our congresspeople accountable...

I am not sorry and I am willing to keep working to make it better

86. I came back to see if they deleted that shitty response
I am totally not sorry for saying this. I think it is high time for some people to realize that the dislike for Obama (from some if not most) on this board is reaching a new level. Also, it is not, not , all about politics. I do not care how much they try to dress it up as if it is. Responses such as the one that was deleted should tell you so.

88. I see it too.
It seems like people on this board are starting to hate Obama as much (or worse) then they hated Dubya.

Weird.

78. Our name is the Democratic Party not the Democratic President
When I say that I mean that we need to do everything we can to keep this party in control. And that means that even if you are pissed at one of our representatives the time to express that is during the primaries. After we have our representative we we need to continually show support for him/her. Be their best cheerleader.

If you have ideas then tell them but don't put a negative spin on anything Democratic. Negative spin is negative energy and we need positive energy.

Oh and Obama? He's my man!
