WSJ/NBC Poll: President Clinton Gets Top Popularity Rating
One of the most popular politicians in the country right now isn’t even running in this election year. Former President Bill Clinton had by far the highest positive rating when Americans were asked in a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll to rate their feelings on political figures.

Fully 55% of respondents had positive feelings about Clinton, compared with 23% with negative feelings. That’s up from a low in March 2001, just after he left office, of 34% positive and 52% negative.

Clinton’s Democratic Party hopes that popularity rubs off on its candidates this year. He has been hitting the campaign trail, with stops in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine last weekend and events next month in New Mexico and California.

5. The March 2001 ranking
is stunning. It truly does show that Al had trouble in the 2000 race exclusively due to the Monica Lewinsky scandal. He probably could have dealt with his own shortcomings as a candidate but that was just too much.

10. I think the March 2001 is artificially low because republicons
tried to paint Pres Clinton as a thief who also sold Presidential pardons in exchange for contributions to his Presidential Library

6. Trying to divide Obama and Clintons again. Why would they boast this poll in this climate?
I hate the freakin' media!

Dividing Democrats. Don't fall for it, folks!

8. He could run for House or Senate...and he'd probably win in a walk
That would be cool. After all, didn't John Quincy Adams have a great career as a House rep., after he was president?

9. This is why people should expect Dubya's ratings to improve greatly over the years...
The further he's out of the national spotlight, the higher his ratings will rise. I don't think he'll ever be considered a good president, but his personal ratings will skyrocket over the next few years.

Keep that in mind, because the media is going to try to use it as proof more people want Bush as president than Obama (I'm thinking this will happen in 2012ish).
