PA- GOV race written off by naysayers now roars back to life |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-29-10 02:27 PM by rhombus
In the race for governor, Tom Corbett (R) leads Dan Onorato (D), 41% to 37% with 19% still undecided. Corbett at one point was leading by double digits. Now the race is within the margin of error. We have a great candidate on our side: http://www.voteonorato.com/http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/politics&id=7695566The Democratic base is coming around just in time. Pennsylvania has a huge Democratic registration advantage. All that is needed is a stepped up GOTV in these 34 days. We can do it.

12. Sestak is a VERY good man ... |
|
Friggen admiral for crying out loud, and experience as a congressman ...
Toomey is on a stealth campaign, but as we all know the ULTIMATE Wall Street insider ... For the love of me, I can't see after what has occured the last three years, how people would want him as one of the 100 decision makers in the Senate ...

7. The first in a series of debates between the 2 was held last week... |

Corbett evidently dodged several questions, and refused to answer a few, and most feel Onorato clearly was the better choice...and he gained ground. I wonder if Corbett will attend the remaining debates since the first cost him votes... Onorato is no liberal ball of fire, but Corbett is a fucking crook. mark Link to radio interview with Onorato on the Debate with Corbett: http://audio.wilknewsradio.com/m/audio/34462277/dan-onorato-democratic-candidate-for-pa-governor.htm

I understand that Onorato is a county executive with a strong management abilities while Corbett is a rather piss poor AG who is running his campaign based upon riding the anti-establishment tide.

11. I was at the debate ... |
|
the annual Pa Chamber of commerce dinner - HUGE event, and VERY much home turf for Corbett ...
Corbett is not horrible as far as republicans go ... But, Pa has a MASSIVE deficit and debt problem, and he routinely says in the same sentence that he is going to balance the budget, not raise taxes and in fact cut taxes ...
That math just does not add up, seriously ... It gets the Rs all frothy, but come one ...
He has been Attorney General, so he has operated at the State level, but not as an executive adminstrator ...
Onarato is SERIOUS candidate - he has been the executive of Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), took over when it was in near bankruptcy and turned it around AND, for all the bluster about taxes, he NEVER has raised property taxes AND has balance his budgets the alst seven years ... Also, the talk about size of government - he SHRUNK his, including cutting ROW offices in half (all of which were held by democrats) ...
I supported him over Wagner in the primary because IMO, Wagner wanted the job, Onorato wanted to DO the job ... I think this applies in this race, too ...
