I don't want Palm Beach John Raese sitting in the seat once held by Robert C. Byrd. That's a desecration!

19. Don't worry about CT--every poll has Blumenthal at 50% or more and leading.

29. Untrue. Two have shown him below 50%
Including the most recent Quinippiac poll.

It's still not a tossup race, but It's becoming competitive and he can't afford any more errosion.

7. True - the PPP poll, which is a Democratic one that came out today
went the opposite way. This might be one that an Obama rally might help. If the Democrats can be convinced to come out, the Democrat wins.

4. CT is more certain than IL, but we want both and WV too
With the news in another thread, that CO might be good too, it should mean that we will have the same strength in the lame duck session in the Senate as we currently have. As we could retain the 4 Democratic seats - NY, CO, Il, and DE.

FL does not look promising unless one of the three totally craters - if doesn't matter who - if Rubio does, Crist wins; if Crist does, it could make Meek competitive; if Meek does, Crist wins.

10. Just confirms what this Californian saw all along.
I KNEW Fiorina had no chance from the get-go, and when Whitman hadn't already sealed the deal by Labor Day (after all, she'd been spending like a drunken sailor, and Brown had done next to NOTHING, yet Whitman was still sub-50), she was toast. Today's illegal immigrant revelation is just tossing an anchor to an already-sinking candidacy.

13. I've wondered if Boxer was going to use Fiorina's dubious record
being in the top 20 worst CEOs of all time, but she has shown remarkable restraint in her TV ads. Whitman has tried buying this office and that positions her as the polar opposite to Jerry Brown's regular guy persona.

Interesting politics.

12. I was never worried about the CA Senate and Gov races.
The GOP candidates peaked in June/July. Once the Democratic voters in CA began to "rev up" this summer, any 'gap' was quickly overcome and the polls show the natural ~10 point advantage that Democrats have in statewide elections.

11. LMAO! Jerry Brown has barely campaigned, and he's up by 9 points.
Meanwhile, Moneybags Meg has blown $120 million of her own money to quite possibly lose a race for a job that pays 1/1000th of that.

Not so good news on FL Governor. Sink had been leading, now Scott is? Do they want to elect someone who took the fifth as governor.

20. CT matters very much so. I am not going to have two thugs represent me in the Senate.
Blumenthal is going to win, and I will be part of making sure that Steroids McMahon follows Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina down the drain!

26. And the latest Rasmussen and Quinnipiac polls show a pretty tight race.
He is leading 3 to 5 points in those polls, though I think both are biased in the Repub's favor. It matters greatly to us Nutmeggers who is our Senator. I mean, we already have Joe Lieberman. And McMahon is beyond bad and extremely annoying to top it all off. Ugg.

27. Two things:
1) The McMahon's are dirty. The manner in which they run their business is of great concern. She would support laws weakening workers rights
as a Senator.
2) Quinnipiac has an awful record. They are off by 10 points or more all to often.

I am working on GOTV efforts for Richard.

25. That's a great and hilarious idea. Could be a very effective counter
campaign. People could sign up for Paul tweets and donate 5 bucks for every tweet they get so that by tweeting, Paul is fundraising for his opponent. Probably easy to organize national support and get hundreds if not thousands of participants.

Cool. Kind of like a drinking game based on when Palin said "maverick", only this one might modify behavior of the tweeter.

28. Sorry about CT/WV
Edited on Wed Sep-29-10 11:23 PM by Politics_Guy25
What I meant was we are having to claw and scratch our way to retaining our senate majority right now. As far as holding the majority goes, if we win in IL, CT/WV's results won't affect the national outcome. If we lose in IL, they become CRITICAL.

In Illinois, Alexis Giannoulias, the Democratic candidate for President Obama's old Senate seat, just barely leads Republican Mark Kirk, by a margin of 43% to 42% among likely voters, despite the fact that Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones draws a surprisingly strong 8% of the vote. And the gubernatorial race between Democrat Pat Quinn and Republican Bill Brady is tight, with Brady leading 40% to 38%, and two lefty candidates drawing a combined 18% of the vote: Green Party candidate Rich Whitney, 4%; and Scott Lee Cohen, a former Democratic lieutenant governor nominee, 14%. In fact, it's hard to tell which party these outside candidates are doing more damage to: Jones and Cohen each draw 8% of the Tea Party vote and Whitney has 3%.
